  1. Wow! The pilot must be an ex military fighter jock.
  2. No, the FSForce utility is not connected to FSForce. It is a stand alone utility used to test your joystick function. I use flight in windowed mode so I just launch ForceTest on my secondary monitor along with GMap after loading my flight. You just tick the desired force after setting the desired force level.
  3. In response to Post# 8 about launching FSForce and getting centering with the FFB stick, thanks for the tip. This works but the centering force is way too strong. Instead of FSForce you can run the ForceTest utility available on the FSForce support page. This allows you to adjust the centering forces, also other forces such as vibration. The utility can be downloaded at: www.fs-force.com/support.htm#ForceTest. As in post#8, load your flight situation and then start ForceTest. I set the centering forces to 25 which worked very well for me. Now, if we could just get elevator trim to work.
  4. I gave this a try but it didn't help with the centering issue in Flight. Just for grins I launched FSX and found no FFB at all including centering so the edit does work. I wasn't aware that there is any support in Flight for FFB.
  5. Cool IP asked: Is there such a thing like a standard tutorial for the self made FF yokes? Check out this site-http://buggies.builtforfun.co.uk
  6. I'm still flying with my old Sidewinder FFB2 stick using FSForce. I will shed more than a few tears when it expires. The FFB yoke looks awesome but the price is out of reach for me.
  7. No, unfortunately. I use my Sidewinder in Flight as I cannot stand spring centered joysticks. Without FFB the stick floats with no centering at all. If you tweak the null zones it works OK. I don't see MS adding FFB to Flight as there cannot be that many of them in use. I really love FFB in FSX using the FSForce addon which is superior to the MS FFB implementation.
  8. If your initial response is not is not understood the software is coded to accept your next response regardless of content. You can actually just click your mic button without speaking and the controller will accept this and move on to the next instruction. Earlier versions of the software would keep repeating "say again" repeatedly causing frustration for the human pilot.
  9. In Post #33 Kaboki said "I also liked that drag detail when you open the door in the air, but in real life do you really want to open the doors at 3000FT(but again Im not a pilot so maybe some do, don't know)?" Actually, there might be a reason to at least partially open the doors. In a Wide World of Flying video article, Barry Schiff, a senior airline captain and aviation safety writer, demostrated using the doors to steer a Cessna 172 simulating aircraft controls being jammed. It appeared to be very effective.
  10. Overall I have been enjoying Flight but I have a hard time understanding the facination with flying, if you can call it that, a cockpitless aircraft. I personally will not purchase one and refuse to "fly" the free ones in either Hawaii or Alaska or wherever. Hopefully MS will release a more suitable aircraft for Alaska in the near future.
  11. While some simmers have a problem using a joystick with a control yoke aircraft I sim exclusively with my ancient MS Forcefeedback joystick using FS Force II by Dirks SW. This excellent program in conjunction with a FFB joystick provides more realistic trim function and control forces that vary with airspeed unlike a spring centered joystick or yoke. I too fail to understand why FFB isn't more prominent in flight simulation.
  12. No cockpit, no purchase. Rapidly loosing interest.
  13. That brings back some memories. I was stationed there in the mid seventies in the USAF. The Air Force had a S-band satellite station and two Thor missile pads, one of which was decomissioned due a nuclear tipped missile exploding on launch and the warhead burned on the ground inside the launch area. Must have been very exciting to the personel at the other end of the atoll. It is my understanding that all structures including the runway have been removed and the atoll returned to its' pre-WWII condition. So the lack of detail there might represent this.
  14. I googled the file and found this link. http://download.chip.eu/en/GlovePie-0.30_174835.html. It appears to be the latest version and didn't have any crapware bundled with it. Shame about his site being hacked.
  15. I would like to implement the TrackIR workaround but seem unable to download glovepie from the link listed in the tutorial here on avsim. The link provided was http://glovepie.org/glovepie_download.php. This page refers to a download page but there doesn't seem to be a link to the download page? Thanks was any assistance.
  16. Except for getting from point A to point B I believe the vast majority of people could care less about the wonder of flight. I have made a habit of observing people outside as an aircraft flies overhead. I very seldom see anyone besides myself looking up. Of course these days most people are too busy texting on their cell phones to look at anything, much less the majesty that is flight.
  17. I"m sure what Ed intended to say was that an aircraft can stall in ANY ATTITUDE when the wing exceeds the critical angle of attack.
  18. I just don't see XPX being ready for prime time at this point. For now I will stick to XP9.7 and FSX. I also have been simming since the SubLogic days.
  19. When you enable the FO he handles comms for you and also takes care of the freq changes. Works very nicely to reduce your stress levels on a ILS approach.
  20. I don't believe you can. If it is properly registered you will get a message saying so if you click on "register" in the registration utility. When you originally register the software a key file is generated but it doesn't appear to be viewable in windows.
  21. No idea what this file does. For a quick fix I would try renaming the file extension to off or passive so the indexer will ignore it. After running the indexer you might be able to rename the file ext back to .bgl so FSX will not be affected when you launch it. I also run this software on a Win7-64bit PC and have had no issues and overall the software works very well. I would contact the developer on their web site contact page. I had a similar issue with a previous VoxATC version and addon scenery bgls and they provided a solution.
  22. I plan to purchase Flight as soon as it is released. I will add it to my stable of flight simulators. I currently have FSX, X-Plane 9.7 and the X-Plane 10 demo installed on multiple SSDs and harddrives. Most of my time is spent with FSX and a large collection of addons. From time to time I even consider reinstalling FS9 and some of the addons unique to it such as Emma Field. So much flying to do, so little time.
  23. I run my joystick, rudder pedals, throttle quadrant and USB headset thru a powered 4 port hub with no issues.
  24. Loads OK for me. I am running the demo (ver 10.03b1) on a Win7 Pro (64 bit) rig. The plane loads in a small bay with very extreme wave action; I thought I was going to have to take dramamine. I was able to take off and fly OK but my landing was very wet, you might say submerged. Good luck.
  25. The SDK1A download will replace and superceed the orginal SDK but you must have the original SDK from the FSX Deluxe DVD installed first to update. I recently did a full reinstall of FSX and can confirm this.
