Fuel planning MD-11

Recommended Posts

Guest Lucdewit

Hi,First of all, Thank you PMDG! The MD-11 is awesome! I've flown the MD-11 tutorial a couple of times, and now I want to try an other flight, but I don't know how much fuel I need to have. Is there a way to calculate it, and how? I will probably fly the Martinair MD-11 from Schiphol to Faro, but also other flights. Luc de Wit

Set pax loads, init the flight plan and enter as much flight plan and wind info as you have. Go to init pg 2, weight & fuel, it will tell you own much fuel you have and if enough then how much extra in weight and time. Adjust fuel on board with pmdg options menu to end up with desired reserves. It is an iterative process but with practice it doesn't take long. It doens't matter but it might be easier to start with a rough estimate of fuel, such as 20,000 lbs/hr of flight, and adjust from there instead of empty.Short answer: Use the FMS
