January 20, 200917 yr Captain,I have tried the flight (PANC - N70 00,0/W150 00.0 - N89 30.0/W150 00.0 - N89 30.0/E030 00.0 - N70 00.0/E030 00.0 - EFHK' with MD-11. The middle of 60NM between N89 30.0/W150 00.0 and N89 30.0/E030 00.0 is the North Pole), over and over again.MD-11 FMS Operation Manual has described on the FMS.100.32 as below:Within 2 NM prior to and 10NM after the pole, the FMS transitions to a wings level mode of flight while it transitions the immediate polar region. However, I have not been able to find this function. Is this implemented actually into MD-11?Sincerely,Kan-ichiro Fushihara
January 21, 200917 yr In FS9 there is a polar wall that cannot be passed. I cant recall the exact size and location of the wall but it is large enough that you wouldnt be able to use the MD-11's polar functions anyways. In the FSX version I believe it is only partially implemented (Heading automatically changes to TRU above certain parallel)... PMDG has mentioned that they will fully implement this in a later service pack. Sam Anderson Every cigarette takes 17 minutes off your life, every slice of bacon takes 9 minutes off your life. January 21, 200917 yr Author I'm on the MD-11 FSX.I have tried to insert a waypoint N90 00.0/W150 00.0 (North Pole itself) between N89 30.0/W150 00.0 and N89 30.0/E030 00.0 on the FMS.I could reach to the North Pole with Automatic Flight according to FMS Flight Plan; however, from there the Aircraft heading and the Magenrta line TRU angle has been floating around???Sincerely,Kan-ichiro Fushihara
