New runways

What is it with all of these airports building new runways out in the middle of heck, a hundred miles from the rest of the airport? I'm specifically talking about IAD and CLT, and in older news, CVG. Just curious for your takes on it.

So that they can conduct multiple approaches under instrument conditions.

makes sense... but im sure the taxi times have got to be insane.

A lot better then waiting in a holding pattern for an hour for one runway and a short taxi time.
