February 9, 200917 yr Author So for my reference it was the 181.22 drivers causing the problem? It's a longer story than that. With the P5E3 mainboard I have, plus my old 8800GT, in XP-32, ANY driver since 169.21's would result in audio pops in FSX only--no other title would bring on the audio pops. I then installed Vista 64 dual boot, and when I installed my 8800GT--NO audio pops with later drivers, including 181.20. So it was something in the combination of those hardware parts in XP 32. I now have almost all my installation of FSX w/ addons into Vista 64, and so far--I like it! I put a new 280GTX in and it is really nice n smooth, and overall, I think better than in XP. I have so much stuff in XP I'm not anxious to clutter up Vista with anything, so I'll just use Vista for FSX primarily. The cool thing is: I haven't done anything yet to optimize Vista, and it's STILL functioning at least as good or better than XP. So that's bonus. I was forced into this as memory started cramping up with the addition of the 280GTX. Vista does have some weird idiosycracies though--OMG! Shouldn't take too long to figure them out. Right now I'd like to figure out which services to disable and lean out Vista start up. Have to review Nick's guide for Vista.
