Hey all. With my current system I am running 2GB of ram. With FS9 running and activesky I se on my windows task manager that I still have 1GB of available memory. WOuld increases to 4GB do anything for performance? I am assuming that if I have 1 GB of free memory that adding more wouldn't do anything at unless I was running out of memory. I am considering throwing FSX on some raptor drives in which I will probably go with IF I go with vista. Any advantage with going with vista over XP if its for FSX? I know u need vista for DX10 but I heard DX10 does crap for FSX. Also 32 bit or 64? Thanks all.Jack

Not really with FS9 no, 2Gb is fine.

Go with Vista64 and 4Gb RAM if you're planning to run FSX in any way decently. 32bit Vista or XP can only handle around 3Gb RAM and you may experience Out of Memory (OOM) issues with big payware jets in complex scenery. You may want to post your entire system specs so others can advise you further. :(

The best way to check if You need additional memory is this:Turn off swap file in windows definitely. Take a most complex jet above most complex scenery and do a long flight for an hour or so. If You get a OOM error, then it would be nice to invest some money for a RAM.I do not take care of memory usage when I'm airborn - one have to fly, not watch the TaskMan performance tab. Unless I have a CTD or a BlueScreen :)
