FSX Performance Issues Solved. Really.

Featured Replies

Hello, Will upgrading from an 8800 GT to a GTX 285 give me any better results than I have now or is it going to require the complete i7 upgrade? My FSX performance is pretty smooth although like most everyone else, it could be better.

You may want to hold on to your money, there is still more to consider before you buy.If your buying a card mainly for FSX - still about the fastest card you can get your hands on is simply the one pushing the highest clock speeds. That would be the lowly 9800+ GTX This new 55nm version "the +" or now known as the "250" is probably your best bet if FSX is all you play and you run at 1920x1200 or less. Quite simply the card runs at nice fast 740-800 clock speeds right out of the box. Check out any of the remaining FSX benchmarks and you will see the 9800GTX+ on top of even the 285 and ATIx2 cards. There are 1gig cards available as well but most are 512. Simply great bang for the buck. I paid $160 for mine and it blew my 4870 into the weeds.
