April 14, 200917 yr Hi All, Took an IFR flight from KDCA - KROA (Roanoke,VA.) and approach assigned me to RWY 06 which is an LDA approach. At any rate I was told to descend and maintain 3100 which is lower than the surrounding terrain. Roanoke, VA sits in a bowl surrounded by the Blue Ridge mts. Any suggestions or help? Thanks in advance. Craig

Your options are to ignore the descent instructions and get nagged at or use the STAR editor to force an approach that avoids terrain. Good luck.
