FMC re-porogram

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,It seems that I am unable to perform a very simple task, neither I was able to find a solution to my problem. Hope someone will give me a hand:I can program FMC for intended route while on ground, but in mid air, when I want to change a distination airport, I'm stuck ! I can't find any way to re-program FMC - delete existing flight plan, change destination airport and recalculate flight plan accordingly. Can anyone pont me out to step-by-step instruction how to change my flight plan in midair. Thanks in advance/

Which aircraft are you talking about nameless?Gustav

Please sign your posts in this forum. What aircraft? Have you tried the manual? In general, you cannot modify the segment that is currently being flown but you can change anything/everything past the next waypoint and then change your current segment to the first waypoint in the next segment. Changing destination is explained in both 737/747/MD11 manuals and varies between MD and Boeing FMS system.

Leonard :( well, any help, or I'm on my own/// :(

I don't think you are on your own.FMC Flight Plan Modifications starts on page 12-35, this part is pretty basic but it doesn't answer your question directly.Let's say you are KLAX-KJFK bound, enroute over the western basin and you want to divert to KDEN: Put KDEN in the destination field. Now your flight plan route needs fixed up and you are going to join the TOMSN STAR at EKR to go to the airport and you want to fly direct to EKR: Go the LEGs page and you will see your "old route" to KJFK, enter EKR at the end of the route and EXEC, now put the mode in HDG HOLD, promote EKR to the top of the route (next fix) and EXEC. Now your flight plan consists of EKR KDEN and you put the final touches on after you change heading to EKR by adding TOMSN STAR and your desired approach.I am doing this from memory.. pretty sure it is close to correct.

How can I thank you well enough ? :( THANK YOU !Being an a Australian I am shortening my evenings in Russia with FSX! I was flying from Singapore to Bangkonk, and realized I have not enough fuel, so have to land somewhere half way through :( and had no idea how to do it. Now I am on the track///Cheers mate !

Well, looks like my problem is not still over :-(I am unable to change a destination airport! You wrote "Put KDEN in the destination field"but where is no such option available at all in FMC! How and where should I put KDEN instead KJFK ???I read through all FMC manual but cannot find any refference to this mods. It is all about inserting a new fix into existing flight plan, and where is none about changing the destination airport. What do I miss here ?Help !

Don't get frustrated. Like most everything else there is a learning curve. Just take your time and follow the advice.1. On the FMC click the RTE Button - 2nd button from the left, 1st row below the screen. 2. Go to Page 1 - look at the top right of the screen you will see two numbers separated by a slash. That means you are on page #/ of #pages. Click on the "Prev Page" or "Next Page" buttons until you are on page 1.3. Now you will see your "Origin" and "Dest" in the case we are talking about they will be KLAX and KJFK respectively. 4. Use the keypad and enter KDEN into the notepad, click the Left top entry key and Voila! you have changed your destination airport. Now follow the rest of the instructions Dan has given you.Joe M
