Free WxWorx - Online version of inflight aviation weather

Featured Replies

I came across this while reviewing weather for an upcoming cross country flight. WxWorx is the provider of inflight weather for units like the Garmin G1000. Lots of fun to get free online access to this realtime weather.Looks like the site is only free until June 15th so check it out when you can. RW pilots pay $50/month to have this information in their cockpits.BTW, is there a good FSX weather radar unit? It would be cool to see this type of information while flying and have it accurately reflect the weather we are seeing in FSX.Enjoy,Doug

I attended a very instersting seminar on weather the other day. WSI only provides nexrad base while xm weather provides nexrad composite. The composite for many reasons is really what aviators need-while the base is more useful to boaters (the majority of the market and why wsi choses that route). I learned therefore that in a typical fbo or on the weather channel-what you are seeing is the base (since most are supplied by wsi)...and what xm supplies is much more valuable. In any case the ability to get this in the cockpit is the most usefull thing for aviators to come along in a long while. I consider it a go/no go. It would be nice to have a simulation of this in the sim.I used it the other day to get down to the Ozarks of Ms. and you can see how nicely it worked to stay out of bad stuff:http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N7345RI am stuck here right now with severe storms but hopefully will be able to thread my way back later today with use of the same!

ASA from HiFi Simulations includes a great weather radar that depicts what you have in FSX real weather.Vic
