May 10, 200917 yr Commercial Member Hi, I just installed some more of my photoscenery and moved it from the installed folder as i made a booboo picking the folder. now, when I start FSX, i get 3 error messages:reffering to area 301, 302, & 303The scenery shows up in the library though, but not at these numbers, as the latest numbersa. 301,302 303 are the first 3 stock entries for FSX scenery.Any ideas how to sort this out? I did try using the scenery repair tool, i put it in my scenery folder in FSX and ran it, but got an error message there as well. thx, Mark

You'll find it over here: http://home.earthlink.net/~smgreenwood/
May 10, 200917 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Ulf, i have tried this, but it did not run , I put the exe in my scenery folder ( as per the instructions) like so:gave this error:Any ideas?
May 10, 200917 yr Mark,You get this error because the program can't find your scenery.cfg file. I'd suggest that you follow the instructions in the readme.txt file:Use:====Place FSTscenery.exe and scenery.cfg in the same folder. Double-click FSTscenery.exe to run the program. The application creates a copy of your original as scenery.organd constructs a new scenery.cfg file in the same folderMove your new scenery.cfg file to your FS folder, if created elsewhere.Your scenery.cfg file is located in the folder mentioned in my previous post. Make a backup of your scenery.cfg file before you run the utility.Edited: Ops! Don't follow the instruction "Move your new scenery.cfg file to your FS folder, if created elsewhere." That was for FS9. Move the scenery.cfg file to the folder "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX " if you created the new scenery.cfg file in some other folder.
May 10, 200917 yr The scenery.cfg file FSX uses in in your C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSx folder for Vista.1. Put the FSTscenery.exe file in the ABOVE folder WITH your scenry.cfg file that FSX uses.2. Create TWO desktop shortcuts (icons) from the above folder...one for the FSTscenery.exe program, and one for the scenery.cfg file.3. Simply click the FSTscenery.exe shortcut on your desktop to run it. You can then click the scenery.cfg shortcut to open the scenery.cfg file in Notepad to verify it fixed your scenery.cfg file (scroll down the the bottom of the scenery.cfg file to see that all entries are in order and nothing is still out of sequence, etc).If you do the above, the "OldScenery.cfg" file that FSTscenery.exe creates will be in the SAME folder as your FSTscenry.exe program and your scenery.cfg file FSX uses. All three items will be in the same place. No need to copy and move any files around.FalconAF Rick Ryan
May 10, 200917 yr Author Commercial Member Thx guys, will try that out, its amazing sometimes how tricky it is following simple instructions.......... :(
May 10, 200917 yr You need to delete the areas in the scenery library and re add them any time you move a folder around. The error is because it's looking for the scenery in the original install location, flight sim will not find moved scenery on it's own. Since you moved the folders after installing flight sim can't find it, hence the errors.
May 10, 200917 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Falcan, I did exactly as you said, it all seemed to work ok, but I still get the same error on starting FSX about not being able to find those 3 areas. I am going to try uninstalling and re installing them, then when I get some time studying through your scenery guide again, as i obviously still have not completely got it.... Edit, just seen Artie lange sreply, that seems logical, will try that, thx everyone for the help nd advice, cheers, Mark
