May 12, 200917 yr Does someone have a list of all FD-modes that exist in an MD-11? and what they stand for and why the FD entered into this mode? ... I wasn't able to find this clearly enough (for me) in the manuals. I can understand the "THRUST" and "PITCH" modes (because I tested it out) but e.g. I have no idea when and why the FD leaves the T/O mode or what I have to do, to get the plane into a specific mode like LOC (does the AP Land have to be armed or is it enough to find an ILS signal? or is a LOC signal enough? ... I can't find answers to these questions) ...thanks for eplanations... would really be great to get more info about thatRudolf
May 12, 200917 yr Yes, there is a lot of information in the manuals that might seem hard to get to but the more you use them the easier it becomes. Try reading the Systems AUTO30.1 where the buttonology is introduced; actually, the entire chapter might help you. The FMA (FD-modes you refer to) starts on pagge AUTO30.26 and includes a table of all modes on page AUTO30.28. Normal procedures in the FCOM manual are also a must-read. Dan Downs KCRP
