any good joysticks?

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new around here. I have a joystick which is very unresponsive to control inputs. I have the sensitivity set to the highest and it still has a very slow rotation rate. Any suggestions?

Check the sensitivity in and out of the sim. If you're looking to upgrade, I suggest the Saitek Cyborg Evo if you're on a budget, or Saitek X52 Flight Control System. If you feel like dropping a fairly significant sum of money, you can get the Yoke and Pedals from either Saitek or CH Products.

How much can you afford? What kind of joystick are you looking for? I suppose a Joystick and HOTAS combination? If so and you are looking for a more "responsive" controller, try the X52 Pro by Saitek. It has a decent amount of programmable buttons and adjustable LED backlights for all important controls. It even has a small MFD on the HOTAS, too.The throttle has adjustable friction and a variety of sliders, which are good for adjusting mixture and propeller RMPs and so on. The joystick itself has optical potentiometers and is quite precise. It has a twist-type rudder which can be locked to use rudder pedals instead.

Saitek x52 or yokes are good, either way, be sure to get rudder pedals as well.

I don't know about Saitek, they get a lot of complaints from people. I would buy CH products, I have their yoke, pedals and joystick and they're excellent. No driver downloads or manuals, just a simple usb plugin. Solid products for sure.

Hi again, regarding Saitek quality. Their products looked a bit toy-like in the past and seemed a bit flimsy, but the new X52 Pro and their throttle and yoke are solid products and have a more "mature" look. I have not tried their rudder pedals yet. If you have a lot of money and free time you can try to get your hands on a Thrustmaster HOTAS "Cougar".Some people say it is the pinnacle of PC joysticks. With a price around 200 Euros its one of the more expensive systems, but its an almost perfect replica of the real General Dynamics F-16s flight controls. The stick is very "stiff" compared to other products, which gives it a realistic feel. A rather large fanbase has evolved around the Cougar and there are a lot of different "modifications" around, which make the stick even better. However, for a strictly civilian pilot it may not be the best choice.
