PMDG 777 upgrade advice (System)
FSX is really ancient when it comes to hardware support and does not even properly support multi-core processors. So you would be best off with a high clock speed-CPU to remedy any lags. Such as the I7 6700k, which gives good perfomance and over-clocking potential for reasonable pricing. You'd need a new motherboard as the 6700k requires Socket 1151 to run. If this is not possible with your current budget, you could try to get an older generation I7 2700k, which can be overclocked to similar speeds as the 6700k. There are upgrade kits around, complete with CPU, motherboard and RAM. These might be one way to go for you. Either way, getting a new GPU won't solve the issue. GPUs with large memory amounts will only help you with very specific types of add-ons like 4k textures.

New 747-8 Product dependencies
The legacy 747-8 is a purely cosmetical add-on to the legacy 747-400 for FSX. BUT The 747v3 currently in testing is an all new stand-alone product, with a lot of variants already included. I'd suspect a slightly higher price (which is of course pure speculation, but reasonable).

[01JUN16] PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster Released for X-Plane!
Not an X-Plane user here, seems the response so far has been positive. Congratulations for another fine product release to all of PMDG. I saw a few DC-6s last year at the local airport. Was a nice experience to hear them come to life and take-off. Maybe one day you will give us some hands-on footage of your aircraft visits, as some other developers do. Also, it's nice to witness the hysteria which follows in the wake of every new product. I hope you get lot of positive feedback and can take a few days off, after the first polishing patch.

[08MAY16] PMDG 747-400 Queen of the Skies II: 747-400F preview...
That looks so good. Can not wait to test this "Queen of the Skies" on the new PC I am currently building. The i7 6700K will hopefully give her some tailwind. Fingers crossed for a rollout within schedule.

747v2 and Panels
If I may, this could be caused by using FSX:SE. I had the exact same issue, until I installed the required font manually.

Hey hey folks
btw, nice new rig you have there in your sig. Still doing the triple monitor thing? I'd say you are ready for 64 bit!

Hey hey folks
Well, I'll be damned. Dan is back! Thought you were gone for good. Forum wasn't quite the same after you left. Glad to see you again. Happy Landings!

PMDG support for Windows 8.1(+) ?
Well. I don't think Microsoft is legally bound to stick with that 2020 support timeframe. They probably won't, seeing how bad they want the market to adopt Win 10 despite all the data mining on their part. Nobody in their right mind should go along with this blatant attempt at their privacy IMHO. A switch to X-Plane on Linux is becoming a viable alternative.

Damn, that was fun to read.

PMDG DC3!
XP or FS or both? A quality payware DC-3 has been in short supply for a long time. Will be a lot of fun bush flying in South America or doing freight runs around the polar regions.

787 Development possibly?
You should get out more.

PMDG777 Fuel Quantity Decrease during cruise
64000 to 5000 lbs/kg in two hours seems a bit excessive for unprecise fuel planning. Which simulator are you using? If FSX, have you set AffinityMask in the fsx.cfg? Do you get freezes of a few minutes during cruise (sounds keeps running but sim seems frozen)? Because these freezes will have you end up with less fuel in the tanks each time they happen. Using the newest version of the T7 and AffinityMask should cure this issue.

Bet not too many people have seen this in real life.
I guess he DID mean the buffeting tailplane. What I take from this video is, how well PMDG have captured the GE90 whine in their product.

[13MAY15] Intercontinental breakfast, anyone?
The exterior model looks spot on. Full of nice details. The curvature between engine nozzle and pylon, the shape of the flap track fairings... Is that real time shading on the inside of the chevrons or baked into the textures? It looks great. Just came back from watching a documentary about LHs D-ABYA. The -8 looks so sleek and graceful. I admit to prefer it over the 744. Looking forward to the flight deck preview.

Failed to start the engine of the 777
A screenshot of the overhead panel might shed some light.

Would appreciate explanation of final entries on Legs page.
Took that from a forum post somewhere else. CI means, you will intercept the ILS localizer course at that fix and FI is the fix where you intercept the ILS vertical navigation, i.e. glide slope. Have fun checking those out at the airports you fly to.

[27APR15] Ah- that pesky memory leak- and a few other small items...
Random question: Why are you posting in bold type face?

Pmdg 777 FMC similar to PMDG 747/747X FMC
Basic functionality is similar, but the flows are a bit different and the 777 also has a lot of added capabilities. Limited uplink simulation is implemented to get company route, performance and wind predictions from dispatch.

777 Intermittently freezes in P3D
Do you by chance also use Active Sky Next? Try to set your AffinityMask setting in the FSX.cfg if you have not done so. It cured my stutters. A problem that also bothered me before.

Stunning Hi def photos of the AA NG and 777-200
What? Wait! Those are screenshots from the sim? I skimmed over the small pictures in this thread about thrice now and thought they were of the real thing! Amazing work, David. B) Edit: Okay, so they are photos. The PMDG logo you added got me confused. Be careful what you are doing, though. These photos are probably copyrighted. Adding a PMDG logo could have consequences. You never know with lawyers these days.
