May 29, 200917 yr So I wonder if this can be done. I have Fs9 and all my addons working just the way i like them on my old Athlon 2ghz with 3200 ram. Its setup on a Raid0 with 2 Raptors. This computer was dedicate to flightsimming only and is about 50GB in size. Can I image the entire drive/s, then build a new up to date comp with a single HD and then place that image on that single HD? I'm unning XP. The end result would be my favorite Fs9 running alongside FSx. I could fly whichever sim I want.If not possible, then please give me some suggestions to keep my Fs9 efforts and get them onto a new up to date computer. I've got a unused copy of 64bit XP(for more ram possibilities). Could buy Vista or wait until W7 is out and debugged. I'm open for suggestions. Thanks,GLB
May 29, 200917 yr Last year I sked the same question and I finally sucessfully swapped FS9 with all add ons to a new rig.How it was done you can read here http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=232078&hl=Cheers Wolfgang
May 30, 200917 yr Author Good thread but my issue is the Raid0 system which spread the data over two drives. I cant just take out the old HD and put in new computer. I think I have to image the Raid onto maybe a external USB drive, then install that image onto the new HD. Just my guess and that's why I was inquiring wondering if that had ever been done.. But good thread. Thanks.Good thread but my issue is the Raid0 system which spread the data over two drives. I cant just take out the old HD and put in new computer. May 30, 200917 yr i've migrated FS9 three times now (2 twice to more powerful desktops, once to a new laptop i just got). Never had a problem. The raid0 shouldn't be a problem. My original FS9 was also installed on RAID0, and i didn't have any issues transferring to my laptop.anyways, you can read what i wrote about the backup process here:http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/show...ight=backup+fs9-feng
May 30, 200917 yr Author Great, I can do that. As I read, I can install a fresh new version of XP. So what do you think. XP 64bit or Vista? Do we think Fs9 really needs more than 3gb of ram?
