Hi, I'm wondering if anybody knows of a good freeware texture replacement file for clouds (all types) as the current ones I have are killing my FPS! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Regards, macs :)

I would suggest you try here(when file library working again)and any other FS sites and try typing clouds or cloud textures or suchlike into there file system and see what it turns up.I know you want a freeware download, but just for reference in ACTIVESKY (not sure about the latest versions)i have ASky 6 there are choices of four types of cloud texture types from 512 256 128 and 64 The highest being great quality with a higher impact on frames to the lowest less frame impact but quality not as good and those in between 256 i think is the default but not sure.Anyway search those libraries.cheers Andy

Many thanks for the pointer Andy Regards, Macs

Hey Macs,What are your current cloud textures?I'm using the REP ones which are a mixture of 256 and 512, with mostly 512. They are quite harsh on frames too.I think changing them to DXT eases the impact on FPS but I don't know how to do that... :(

Onursk, I couldn't tell you honestly. I remember a few eons ago I downloaded them , but cannot find the original files. They are probably the fancy-type ones, since I get a dramatic FPS drop every time they appear on view. I'll let you know if I find some good replacement ones. Regards, Macs :)

I changed the default cloud textures to DX3.I can send them to you if you want me to. :(

HelloDownload a program called convimx(freeware)unlike DXTBmp this program can convert a whole set of textures rather than just one at a time.Andy
