  1. Hello Its often a matter of adjusting your other sound settings. For instance if your engine/environment settings are also very high, reduce them right down. Leave your ATC at 100 if that's what you want.n When you next start your sim (your engine/environment sounds will be very low)adjust your main volume(leave the volume controls within the sim that you have adjusted as I describe above alone) via keyboard or on your speakers or both ,turn right up so the engines are at a decent level and you should find your ATC is much louder(can be to loud sometimes) Andy
  2. Now it's very interesting that this topic has come up.Last night the same thing happened to me. And guess what....it was just as you describe I had my ATh turned on whilst on ground. And me a long time simmer OH the shame! Andy PS as soon as I disconnected the autothrottle ,'ordinary' throttle control resumed. My excuse...I was using the Alain Capt panel(md11) which is fairly complex and I've not used in ages. Uh hum!
  3. Yes I recognise this glitchet . I don't have any PMDG product's ,but I do have posky 777s and there VC. If zoomed out to far switches etc become unclickable. Cheers Andy.
  4. I would like to. But I don't no how to. Cheers Andy
  5. Hello If select the Menu option from the home page ,I get the menu options OK ,but the home page partially bleeds through those menu options. It doesn't prevent you selecting options ,but it looks very poor. Andy
  6. Also when you have toggled as mentioned above, go to 'views' and uncheck full screen option. This will ensure that when you next start up you will be in windowed mode ,and your aircraft will be visible in all there glory in the selection screen. You can also deselect open in full screen mode via your fs9 cfg as well . Andy
  7. Got it Jim. Thanks a lot. Cheer's Andy
  8. If you know were the FL has gone ,please let us know. Cheers HWs OK I get it.Sites up the jibbly at the moment. A.
  9. Thanks for your thoughts guys. Thanks John for explanation of how FSnav does some of its business. As I am a bear of very little brain I will ignore any attempt to fiddle with it. Cheers Andy
  10. Already on my way to addiction Ian. I bought a new PC about six months ago ,and for the first time in ten years or so I can run add-on airports as smoothly as the defaults and some of these are tremendous. However!!! I am having one or two problems i.e. In FSNav for instance I may get dual runways or runways marked as ILS equipped in FSNav but as not in FS9 itself ,this sort of thing .One addon displays a runway as present in FSNav but it is in fact a taxiway. These issues are minor irritant's rather than anything major ,so not a real worry, but it would be nice not to have them . Anyways cheers Andy Jim! Thanks my add-ons are already above the defaults. PS most of my new add-on airports run without the for mentioned issues .Which is good.
  11. Hello If i install freeware airport sceneries, should i disable the default equivalents.? Cheers Andy
  12. Now that's a good idea, although I think I may? have solved the problem ,but can't really explain how. The fuel pump idea is the best possible cause I have heard so far, although I wasn't aware of one in my vicinity. Thanks to all Andy
  13. Thanks. But I checked that option and unlimited fuel is not selected.(yes we do get that choice in Fs9) Cheers Andy
  14. update! cant refuel manually in the default manner either. Aircraft will only load with 100% fuel. please help. going nuts going to sleep as well goodnight. cheers Andy
  15. Hello All for years now I have used the very useful little program 'Fuel loader' (available here at Avsim) but it has developed a problem...its this.... Every time I use the program to fuel up my aircraft ...an example the default is 100% and I want 70% I input the 70 % and it remains at that figure for a few seconds ,but then reverts back to 100% Nothing I have tried will stop this irritating behaviour. I have tried unin/rein the prog...no joy. I have tried system restore........no joy. I have deleted the cfg and let fs9 build a new one .No joy I have tried the fs9 registry reset just in case ......No joy. I reset the assignments to default..........No bugg==ing God damn joy. Any ideas gratefully received. Andy
  16. Hello Ronzie I 'think' I was doing the same as you ie downloading archives to match my flight time wherever I was in the world. I am going back to doing just that. Andy
  17. OK! Thanks I will give the live updates ago on tonights flight. I completely forgot about that option. Cheers Andy PS If using live updates, does that effect your flight plan arrival runway option ? I guess it would, and would mean flight plan alteration whilst airborne. I do know this done (in the real world I believe) nonetheless a bit of a pain) Cheers Andy
  18. Very sad news. I hope Tom got to read all the messages posted here by members ,and took some comfort from them. I know that we can sometimes be an argumentative and hot headed bunch , but a lot of warmth and kindness was expressed in those posts ,a lot of decency and the noble side of what it is to be human was shown. Goodbye Tom. Andrew.
  19. HelloI like to match the time of my flight to the weather conditions that prevailed at the time. Sometimes these times match and I can therefore use the 'live' download. If not I use the archive option. Cheers Andy Ah Ah ha!Just realised what you are saying. Now I have got a new more powerful PC I may give the live option a try again. I felt this choice had some impact on performance on my old setup. ......... Does using live weather cause stutters as it updates itself? Cheers Andy
  20. Hello If my flight is going to take about three hours, should I download three hours of archived weather for Asky 6.5 I used to do this but have recently taken to just downloading 1hr (its quicker ,and I cant see any difference or advantage in downloading three. ) andy
  21. Could it ? Nobody replied to this. I recently bought a new PC . It doesn't match the power of the OPs setup, but fs9 runs massively better than my old p4 2.8 xp 2gb setup. Even Egll, eham, lax etc,etc traditional performance hogs run completely smoothly now. Add-on airports that used to reduce performance to a crawl I can now enjoy for the first time in years. Anyways I only use one monitor. So could the fact that the OP uses three could that be causing problems.(as Sascha asked) Maybe the OP could try running just one monitor and see how that performs.
  22. Tom My absolute best wishes go out to you and yours. I was once banned for two weeks from the Avsim forums (it was a completely justified ban ) due to an overindulgence of ale and subsequent loosening of brain and tongue. If it was yourself that banned me ,then I am honoured to have been sanctioned by a good and decent man.If not the above still applies. Good luck Sir Andrew
  23. Hello I would definitely recommend bins over a telescope for your plane spotting. Telescopes may have a greater magnifying power ,but will have a smaller field of view, making it harder to locate your target (also with a telescope the issue of stability will be even greater than with bins) Binoculars will have a greater field of view, but perhaps less raw magnifying power. IMO bins are the way to go for your purposes. There are of course some huge bins used for astronomy ,whether these would be a good choice for you I don't really know, there would also be the cost to consider. My tech knowledge concerning optics is probably a little out of date these days ,so other posters may have more up to date info concerning bins verses telescopes. Cheers Socks?
  24. Hello I used to do a bit stargazing using binoculars. One method I found for keeping them nice and steady was to mount them on camera tripod. I would not extend the tripod to its full extend ,but keep it at its shortest (about a 1foot)and simply hold it with both hands to my chest.. It was very stable and very comfortable like this. Holding a pair of binoculars the 'normal way' can be somewhat knackering/fatiguing. Cheers Andy
  25. Hello Unless you are a master of tech ,the problem with all these diagnostic programs is not just whether there safe to run for extended periods ,but interpreting (the usually beautifully displayed)but incomprehensible (at least to me) results . I have used many of these in the past and the only one I could understand and make some use of was one that amongst other things showed whether there were problems with something called 'system 'interrups' .There most certainly was (a dying Gcard being responsible) I replaced the card and the system interrupt problem disappeared. Anyways thirty days is not a long warrenty period. Was your PC a new model? PS I hope you ARE a master of tech and can make use of those utility's to help you diagnose any possible problems with your new PC. When you have done that I hope you can enjoy some good simflying. I know that my new PC (no gaming ,expensive super machine by the way ) has completely transformed my fs9 experience , I used to defend my old XP p4 2.8 setup ... NOT anymore . Cheers Socks.
