Question on RealScenery Arizona

Featured Replies

I recently purchased X-plane, but one of the short cominghs is the lack of airport scenery. My question is, does the RealScenery Arizona software actually contain airport structures or is it only photo scenery? Here is the product link:http://www.realscenery.com/prod_az.htmlBill Clark

I believe it is photo only. However, they answered my question when I sent it via their site.

Bill,RealScenery is just like MegaScenery is for FS: Photoscenery only. You can always add any airports from FS conversions to the RealScenery should you choose. :)

Bill,It most certainly does. I currently have many FS sceneries over my RealScenery packages. :(

Cameron,So this is default scenery, any airport in either FS9 or FSX. I have heard that only 3rd party scenery was convertable. For example, I could take Ramona airport here in San Diego county and convert it to work in X-Plane?Bill

Bill,Only ADD-ON FS scenery can be converted to X-Plane. Anything made stock or that uses stock default buildings by MSFS will NOT be converted over. Payware sceneries (like FlyTampa) and almost all freeware sceneries like from here at Avsim can be converted over just fine. In some cases you'll find subtle issues, but it's usually a seamless conversion. The only real issue is converting FS X photoscenery. This is not available at this time. You may convert FS 9 photoscenery, however, you'll get a large FPS hit doing so, as it makes what are called Polygon files. Unlike RealScenery, the polygon files are actual 3D objects that would be drawn over the X-Plane mesh. RealScenery is converged inside the X-Plane mesh itself, thus retaining FPS.
