June 2, 200917 yr I can't seem to get a dark cloud cover. Even if I load the hurricane metar file (see pic) the most I get is a light grey overcast sky with no cloud detail. The Xgauge was showing red over my location but this is all that was depicted. I can get dark clouds if I use FSX default weather but not with ASA. Any help?
June 2, 200917 yr Hi,Please post a pic of the ASA Report screen that would go along with this shot. Did you allow ASA enough time to generate and process the weather? Thanks,
June 3, 200917 yr Author This is again ASA with Cumulonimbus and the Report Screen:Switching to FSX Default Weather, Thunderstorm Theme, I get this:I waited about 10 minutes.
June 3, 200917 yr Hi,On the ASA Report Screen check the Lock to Closest box On.Also the Force to Real Time Box On.Thanks,
June 4, 200917 yr Author Hi,On the ASA Report Screen check the Lock to Closest box On.Also the Force to Real Time Box On.Thanks, Will give it a try. Thanks.
June 4, 200917 yr Author I don't have a clue why those check marks were off in the above screenshots. I never messed with those. When I went back into ASA they were indeed checked. Here's the same result:Switching to FSX default weather:Specs:Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboarde8400 @ 4.02 Ghz4 GB DDR2 memoryGeforce 512mb 9800 GTX+
June 6, 200916 yr Hi,Very strange. Is this a network install of ASA or on the same machine as FS?Thanks,
June 6, 200916 yr Jim, (with all due respect because you do put a lot of time and effort into trying to help people out), to say this problem is "Very strange", is far from true, and quite honestly made me laugh. Randall, like myself and many others have repeatidly posted about depiction / cloud coverage / visibility problems, they are very well documented. I hope, as I'm sure many others do, that this is the reason that ASA is still in beta (again, giving my respect to Damien and anyone else involved, weather engines have always been in beta) and will eventually be sorted out. Thanks Glen
June 6, 200916 yr to me it seems the latest beta builds have trouble depicting storms of any kind. I just took off out of Chicago hoping to see some nice clouds below me as I head west in FSX, but all I see are smooth skies and few white clouds. I do most of my flying in America, so you'd think coverage would be very good
June 6, 200916 yr And here I took off from KORD and no overcast layer or strong winds, and before my flight plan was loaded I looked at fsbuild and the wind projections were over 100 headwinds, But half the time the weather doesn't seem to show up correctly. I can't explain it. If you need me to test different settings PM me I will glady beta test something to get this working. These issues seem to happen more often with the PMDG 747 in FSX
June 6, 200916 yr Author OK, so it's not just me.No this is not a network install. Does the response "very strange" mean that you can produce accurate stormy weather on your computer with the current build of ASA?
June 7, 200916 yr it must have something to do with the interaction of addon airplanes/scenery/fsx version/windows version/etc
