Weather for the 1'st of June in ASX

Featured Replies

With all due respect I wanted to see what the weather looked like in ASX the tragic night when the Air France a/c disappeared but after downloading historical data for that specific time what I got is seen in the screenshot attached which puzzles me - according to ASX the weather in that area for that specific time seems just fine with not even any clouds in the area?

I believe that because ASA uses various weather reporting stations which report localised data, there will be no weather reports for that region since there are no weather sensors in that area reporting local data. Also I think the weather stations available are very far apart and it might not be possible to interpolate the data to at least create something.I could also be wrong, but thats what I understand from what you are showing there.Cheers

Thats because ASX will interpolate the weather at any given spot based on the surrounding stations. And there was no station reporting CB's that night, since there are no reporting stations out in the ocean.Yes, there are the generated oceanic stations that ASX does, but these stations are going to have interpolated weather...and I see no stations near there reporting CB's.It would be nice to have ASA/ASX have code to have an option to randomly automatically generate some oceanic-area CB's in certain regions of the world at certain times of the year. That ICZ (Intertropical Convergence Zone) would be one of them.Is there a suggestion box for HiFi? :) It would be a neat option!

Figured it was something like that, thanks for clarifying! As for a future option where you can have ASX randomly generate this type of weather now that would be really cool...and frightening...

I think it would be great to have an option where ASX could generate CB's/snow/whatever in a certain lat/long area that you specify...with the standard depiction along the rest of the route...or something like that.

Hi All,You could set this up using the Wx Config screen and use the pseudostation IDs and set the application range of the weather! The suggestion box is at: tell-us(AT)hifisim.com!Thanks,

Never tried configuring my own weather, I have always used the real world weather for maximum realism but I'll have a look at what you suggest. However I still think it would be great if you could tell ASX generate this kind of weather randomly at the location where this kind of weather is common in real life.
