June 5, 200917 yr Hi guys, I just bought the MD-11 pack. I'm working on the automated flight tutorial now... From London Heathrow to Zurich. Everything goes fine until I reach the top of descent point. The autopilot is going down, but way too slow. I tried som clicking on the prof button it said IDLE and was going down, but already too late. Also the speed isn't descreasing. In the FMC it's all programmed, the plane is flying the correct approach but without enough descent and a speed that's way too high. Anyone knows what i do wrong? Thanks in advance!
June 5, 200917 yr Hi No name. When you are in cruise make sure the pfd is reading HOLD 37000 at top right in magenta, not HOLD in white. If you open the fmc and go to the INIT page down the bottom it should say 370.It's common to overshoot the altitude when setting it in the panel, make sure you don't else you'll see HOLD in white and have to reset the panel and the INIT page to 370 again... else it won't descend. Also dial in a lower altiude before reaching the top of descent, think it's 4000 in the tutorial. Also make sure you clear the ils frequency in the navrad page after cleaning up the plane after leaving London.Happy flyingJohn Ellison
June 5, 200917 yr Hello John, thanks for your quick response now. And thanks for the tips! I'm flying the tutorial right now... So i'll let you know if it worked. One more question about the speed... The hold 37000 is now in magenta, but my speed says 215 in white. I already passed the SID so it has to speed up to 300 or something. In the display there is a magente dot with 330kts behind it (the speed for climbing), but a little bit more upwards there is 215kts in white. What do I have to do to speed up to 330 automatically? How to make this mark magenta? In the tutorial there nothing said about it so probably i'm doing something wrong...!My name is SulphurTXOk, i found out myself quickly by clicking FMS speed just under the SPEED selector... Thanks anyway! I'll let you know if i managed to land safely in Zurich!

June 5, 200917 yr Sounds like you had a speed protection error - try to follow the flight director (trim as necessary if needed) on departure, raise gear, and press autoflight about 500 feet above the ground... not at 500ft.Retract flaps when the FR is green then slats when SR is green. It'll hold 250kts below 10000 then dip and accelerate to the fms speed. If it's in white press the button under the speed to re-engage it.When the plane is 'clean' open the panel and reset the spoiler, set flaps to 15 and turn off the autobrake. You'll get there... just practice, then comes the hard part lol.John Ellison
