king air 350 white screens

Featured Replies

Hi, when i fly the king air 350 in FSX, i will frequently get a moment where the screen flashes to all white before coming back to normal. it seems to happen primarily when i bring up a different panel like the radio stack, or when i mouseover the instruments to adjust a knob. it's almost like it is taking a second to load up that gauge or something. after this happens it will fly fine for a while and then a few minutes later will happen again, particularly if i change to external view and back.has anyone got an idea for a solution to this? it is the only plane that does this, all the other default planes work well and i've never seen it with other payware planes i use either. maybe there is a setting i can change to preload the gauge textures differently (if that is indeed the problem).. i'm using the updated flight model file from alexander metzger but the problem happens with the original file too.thanks,-andy crosby

White screens happen when FSX is trying to read an FS9 texture file. Usually, that happens in an external view. Maybe that's your issue, that's my guess, but it could be something else. There's no fix as far as I know except to avoid FS9 textures.Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

aha! i appreciate the info Jeff.i am guessing maybe some of the panel textures are in an old format or something. i'll have to do some hunting around to learn about the differences and if it's possible to convert them.thanks!-andy crosby

Andy,Just noticed this thread as I came here with the same problem, except it affected more of the default aircraft in my case. I saw in another thread that turning off tool tips can fix the problem. I've just tried it and it seems to have worked for me, so far anyway!Andy L
