June 6, 200916 yr First of all I would like to say hi to everyone on this forum. And now for the topic: I recently changed OS from XP 32bit to Vista Ultimate 64bit because of OOM and 4GB of RAM I bought. So for my specs:Asus P5KC motherboardGigabyte GTX 260 896MB4 GB DDR2 800MHz Mushkin RAMIntel Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz500W Infinity powersupplyAs I reinstaled everything I noticed, that my performance in windowed FS9 is very bad. In full screen I get up to 80 but in windowed mode I only get 30-33 FPS no matter what.I use FS9.cfg and display.cfg tweaks for Flight Simulator and Nhancer (NickN configuration) for drivers.I would stay at full screen mode but I have black pointer and if I press alt (to display menu bar) I got black screen for 1 second. Same happens if I turn IvAp on or off.I reinstalled and installed drivers numerous times and same with simulator but it's not getting better. I have 185.85 drivers from NVidia website. And yes, I set FS to run in compatibility mode and disabled visual themes and desktop composition.I hope someone can help because I searched all over the internet and I can't find the solution.Matjaz Matjaž Nebec IVAO Slovenija http://ivao.si/en/
June 6, 200916 yr ......In full screen I get up to 80 but in windowed mode I only get 30-33 FPS no matter what.....Where, and is it in the default scenery? I do also see a drop in windowed mode (up to a third) but not as much as what you see. However I think 30-33 fps is nothing to complain about--trying to spend time to improve on that makes me want to ask:What is most important--tweaking to get the best framerate, or simply enjoying good performance and enjoying the sim in general? Generally I don't fly MSFS in windowed mode--it detracts from the realism for me. Full screen 80 fps? I'd say keep it in full screen and start having fun. I also have a black pointer (Nvidia card) and see a brief (quarter second) flash when I press the Alt key, but it doesn't bother me in the least.Regards,John

Looks like I'm not the only one with that problems. But for me it's tweaking for the best framerate and enjoying the sim after good tweak Thank you again,Matjaz Matjaž Nebec IVAO Slovenija http://ivao.si/en/
June 6, 200916 yr I reinstalled and installed drivers numerous times...Don't reinstall your old motherboard drivers. Did you download the lastest Vista 64-bit chipset and other drivers from ASUS and install them? Also, make FS9 large-address aware so that it can utilize the extra memory.
June 6, 200916 yr FWIW, I have never found compatibility mode or disabling visual themes to do a figs bit of good for FS. On lesser machines, maybe but not on better ones. Is your GPU listed properly in the FS9 cfg?You didn't install to Program Files, did you?Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
