June 11, 200916 yr Questions on setting up a 2 PC network for FSUIPC WIDEFS or WIDEFS7.I would like to get ActiveSky and FlightSim Commander onto a client PC.Background:I had a 2 PC Ethernet network several years ago using a ZNET Router. An old PC and a new Dell PC both with Windows XP.Basically, I just used the network for file transfers setting up the new PC.Never used the newwork for Flight Sim.The two PCs were cabled to the router. The router went to a Comcast cable modem. The Comcast cable modem went to the Internet.Every few days I had to power down the Z NET router and Cable modem.Because, as I understand it, the Cable Company would check their system and thinkthere was a problem and reset their modem. I think this generated anew IP address on their modem! Now my router did not know what happened! Then I would have to reset my router and their modem to get the IP addresses set up again.Well, I really do not know what actually was going on.So I just disconnected the network. Now I am thinking about a network using FSUIPC for Flight Sim.The questions:**************So, the question is ... does anyone have this IP Address reset stuffgoing on when hooked to the Cable company?Maybe my ZNET (not an expensive one) router was the problem.Or, is it a common problem and there is a way around it? June 11, 200916 yr Commercial Member I have a 3 PC setup with Active Sky, Autobrakes, ACARS and whole bunch of stuff setup on the extra machines. I gave all my computers a Static IP address and never had any issues. Probably best to ask this stuff on the hardware forums.Rob Rob Prest
