You might try editing the name of your FS9.cfg file - change it to FS9.cfg.Bak.That will effectively disable it and FS2004 will rebuild a fresh new one when you start up the sim again - using all of the original default settings. Possibly that will restore the esc key exit.In case you are not aware, the FS9.cfg file is "hidden" by default so be sure to use the "search hidden files and folders" option when searching for it.In a default installation it will be located here:C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9Once you find it, you can Right click on the file and remove the "hidden" attribute. That will make it easier to find in the future. Many of us also create a shortcut to the FS9.cfg file and place it on our Desktop for quick access.Hope these ideas may be helpful. Keep us posted.

Thanks Dave,I'll try it tomorrow, The scary part is the word "default settings". Of course, as you said the config.bak will be a safeguard.irish3

After FS has created a new FS9.cfg file you can edit it (using notepad) and copy over any special tweaks you had from the backed up copy. Some settings you may wish to change from within the sum itself. Either way it does not take long to customize the new one the way you want it.Good luck!! :(

Definitely add a Desktop Shortcut. Makes it much more convenient to get to. Enjoy!

I just did a little refresher and noted that the ESC key (when you are flying) does NOT exit the sim but allows you to "end the flight".CTRL C is what is used to actually exit the sim. Those are the default key assignments - which can be manually restored on the Assignments dialogue or will be restored automatically when you allow FS2004 to rebuild the FS9.cfg file.Is it possible you were just remembering incorrectly? :( Note: ESC will exit the sim if you are still at the Create a Flight screen but not if you are already "flying".Edit added: Two other tips - Go to My Computer, then Folder Options, then View. Scroll down a little ways and place a check mark in the box which says "show hidden files and folders".And just below that, be sure there is NOT a check mark on the box which says "hide extension for known file types"The first idea will allow you to search for and find hidden files such as the FS9.cfg file. The second idea is to be sure you are working on the correct file when you make a backup or edit it. Ther are normally two files with very similar names FS9.cfg and FS9.cfg.txt. It is the FS9.cfg file you want to be working with and not the one which has a txt extension.I usually have my view option set to "details" rather than "icons" as I like to see the complete actual file name - which can sometimes get truncated in the icon view.
