"Add" scenery to Scenery Library Problem

Featured Replies

I wanted to add some "scenery" to my FSX Scenery Library and seem to be having a little problem. I have a scenery folder that I want to ADD and it is in a folder structure like this: C:/Program Files/A/B/C/scenery. I open FSX and go into the Scenery Library and click ADD. It brings up a window to select the path to the new scenery. I do that and get to "C" with its "scenery" in the main window, but when I click OK, nothing happens. The window stays open. It does not close when I click OK; it does not ADD the scenery to the library. The correct path is shown at the bottom but it does not appear in the library in order to give it a priority. I have 2 PCs with FSX on them and both are behaving the same way. From what I outlined above, am I doing something wrong to add this scenery? Is there something else I need to do? Thanks for help. Al

Make sure you have clicked on the desired scenery folder to highlight it before clicking on OK.Also, make sure that the named scenery folder doesn't have another sub-folder containing the scenery and texture folders.

Just click on the main folder where your new scenery resides. Don't open up the /scenery folder within that new folder you created.Should be something like KBOS (main folder)KBOS/sceneryKBOS/textureSo all you want is to select the location using the top folder (in this example, named KBOS)

Thanks Art_P and ryanbatcund: Will take a look again tonight. I may not have clicked on the "scenery" folder before clicking OK in the main window. Will let you know. One other thing: Once I hopefully get this to work, should I check off Use Scenery Directly or Cache this scenery? Thanks, Al

That depends on how important it is to you to have quick access to this particular scenery. I have always gone with the default "use scenery directly" on everything I have added.

Thanks Art_P. Will do that.Follow-up on my problem: I was able to get the Add to Scenery Library working fine. What I was doing wrong was "double clicking" on the final folder rather than just clicking once on it. After I did that, all is working well now. Thanks, Al
