Problem with Win7 RC and FSX

Featured Replies

OK..........I entered into the Win7 trial and got that sorted. But after installing FSX and and all the other stuff I notice that the landscape is now more blurry then before with exactly the same settings. I have tried both drivers for Win7 X64 and have the same with either.I took one screen shot in a paused saved place with win7 and then another with the same saved place with XP, and the difference with the bkurriness is obvious.Has anyone else come acroos this before?Thanks......................Plimmy.BTW win7 runs FSX much better then before so I wouldnt like to go back to using XP if I can help it.

I cant really see anything obvious in those pics.this is what I mean..........xpblur.th.jpgwin7blur.th.jpgLook carefully and you will see in the distance that is is lots of detail with the first pic (XP), and on the second pic the detail is a lot less.

Sorry about that guys............................silly me. I thought I had settings EXACTLY the same as the XP version. Turns out I had texture set to trilinear instead of Anisotropic......................Oh dear.

Iam also testing Win7 64 bit,From Vista 64. The difference is better frame rates,no stutters And everything works! My PFC and CP Flight hardware,TrackIR4 CH Products USB peddals. But no driver support from ASUS on MOBO drivers, let alone Vista 64! I will never buy ASUS again! Junk! What ever drivers Win7 loaded,I seem to be getting good perfofmance.

I think that the generic chipset drivers from microsoft include drivers for older chipsets. I have the nforce4 chipset, and as you say overall performance is much better. For instance in my test situation I usually get around 40fps. Now I am getting 60-70 fps. I think some are having problems with RAID but apart from that all is well. It makes me wonder why MSoft didnt do Vista like this. I had vista for a few days then gave up due to the performance. I just hope that over the coming months that the updates dont start slowing things down.

Did any of you guys upgraded from Vista 64 to W7 (not a new install from formatted drive) and if so, did it kept registry intact ? i do not want to reinstall everything....Thanks !Alain from Montreal

Whe I installed over a version of XP it asked if I wanted to keep the original files etc... I chose not to. So I suppose it can kep your settings and files. Mind you though even though I installed Win7 X64 over XP it still kept a folder windows.old.
