REX questions before I purchase

Featured Replies

I have two questions: How well does it simulate IMC conditions? Does it simulate proper 8/8 cloud coverage or is it just like FSX's cloud coverage model? My other question is how much of a framerate hit does this program have?

i use only REX textures, and ASA weather. Dont use REX weather. With REX+ASA the SKY and Water look 100 times better than FSX,How good it looks depends what quality of cloud textures you selected in REX, and the higher the quality the more of your CPu it eats up.REX+ASA is a must have for any self respecting simer who knows his eye candy from his framerates. There is a REX 2.0 on the way whose weather engine is supposed to be better than or as good as ASA, so you might want to wait for that, but according to REX forums, REX2.0 is delayed in testing due to bugs.If you get REX 1 now , i suspect its free upgrade or upgrade price for REX 2.In any case FS11 could not do better than what REX + ASA is doing for FSX.i am sure there must be REX + ASA vids on youtube.

I agree. REX will transform FSX. I also use it with ASA. Positively worth the purchase price. Give up another addon but get REX (I'm just a delighted customer).

I'm also considering buying REX. And I wan't to rephrase that question. How will it impact performence i.e will it introduce stutters or blurries. If not and remain smooth fps impact is less important. My systemAMD 6000 X24 Gb RAM8800GT 612M DDR3

The only things that could impact fps while in fsx are weather engine and the quality of textures you select in REX.If you are not using REX weather engine, then REX is not running while you are in FSX, its just a texture program that runs before you start FSX.As for the weather engine, i use ASA, and the more eye eyecandy you add to the weather the more fps it eats up, so you have some control

\I just bought it last night and I already love it. However it does take some time once you install it. You have to tweak the settings a bit to get the performance you want. Well worth my money though!

If you are not using REX weather, you only need to run it when you want to change the textures.I have used REX and thought its a good product for the money , that is why i recomended it.But !!beware!! i get the feeling that there are people on AVSIM who are here to push certain products, so you need to be carefull when taking recomendations on AVSIM.
