June 27, 200916 yr HelloI've installed my FS9 in Windows Vista Home Premiumin my notebook, initially it worked fine, with good performance. Last night when I wanted to run it to test my joystick, the simulator throwed me a problem, it says that the sim will close because there's no enough hard drive space, but I have more than 100 GB of free space! Here are the specs of my notebookHP Pavilion tx2532laWindows Vista Home Premium 32 bit3GB RAM DDR2 800 MHz250 GB of HD (aprox 110 GB of free space)ATI Radeon 3200 HDAMD turion dual core mobile RM-70 2.00 GHzBefore the problems, I ran defraggler to defrag my drive, can defraggler cause this problem?I executed checkdisk and it says there was no problem.I tried to restore my system, but the only restore point that exists before the defragmentation doesn't workany ideas how to solve it?Thanks in advance
June 28, 200916 yr Are you absolutely sure you got a message stating "out of hard drive space"? Seems more likely you would've received an "out of memory" error which is far more common.
June 28, 200916 yr mmm, i'm reading the message with more attention and it says that there's no enough memory. But also it says that there's no enough space in the hard drive
June 29, 200916 yr Ah yes. Not enough memory means you either need to add system RAM or at the very least increase your page file. You could also add the /3gb switch as demonstrated here. Follow the instructions for Vista.
June 29, 200916 yr Did you increase your page file size yet? Don't go to such an extreme measure before you exhaust your options.
July 1, 200916 yr Did you increase your page file size yet? Don't go to such an extreme measure before you exhaust your options.Increasing your pagefile size will not help. Adding RAM will not help. In nearly all cases, the combination of physical RAM and standard Windows pagefile is more than sufficient to accomodate FS without producing this error. What this message is telling you is that FS, with all the modules and add-ons running as part of it, has requested Windows to allocate more than the 2GB of virtual address space allowed for any program running under the standard 32-bit environment. There are a couple of ways to attack the problem. One is to skinny-down FS so that it doesn't breach the 2GB boundary. You can do that by moving unneeded .dll files out of the modules folder, by using reduced-size textures for clouds, scenery, and aircraft, and to make sure that you don't have a memory leak (i.e. because there's an empty texture folder located somewhere in the FS9 directory). Another way is to alter the FS9.exe file to set the LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag, and use that in conjunction with a 64-bit OS (Win XP 64, Vista 64, or Win 7 RC 64), or alternatively with a 32-bit OS (XP or Vista) with the /3GB option set in the boot.ini. Setting the /3GB option is not enough, as you have to tell Windows that the application is allowed to exceed the standard 2GB allowed for a 32-bit program. This is done by setting the LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag.A search of these forums for LARGEADDRESSAWARE and /3GB will get you started. Note that on any machine with a video card of over 256MB of VRAM, it will require careful attention in setting the USERVA parameter, and if the VRAM exceeds 512MB, it's highly unlikely you will see much benefit from the /3Gb 4GRT setting. Transition to a 64-bit OS is the preferred option over use of 4GRT.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
