June 29, 200916 yr Commercial Member Anytime I fly near to Heavy thunderstorms the aircraft will gradualy slow down and then stall, i am enroute from TNCM - SBKP using AS6.5 SAT is -24 TAT is -7 so that seems ok for this time of the year. Right now I am FL310 (OPT330) 220 IAS with LO Speed protection and Stick shaker/Pusher 15 degrees nose up and the Auto slats have extended causing an overspeed.Edit Aircaft went full nose down and crashed. Not fun after 3 hours into the trip and a 1 hour preflight. This has happened before and I normaly vector well away from TS but at night I dont have any other option.Rob Rob Prest
June 30, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Ok since I'm the only person having this problem with the MD11 I have installed Active radar onto the aircraft as it's better then nothing. So I will ask another question, is there any good software out there that will act as a flightplan/dispatch tool so I can avoid heavy thunderstorms at night before they are picked up on radar? I'm going to attempt TNCM - SBKP again tonight and have my credit card at the ready.ThanksRob Rob Prest
June 30, 200916 yr Commercial Member Yes, of some kind. It's down to FS.Some add-ons are now going beyond the basic icing simulation offered by FS.Best regards,Robin.

It's pretty rubbish so I keep the option turned off, I do however turn on all AI switches just to follow SOP. Cheers Rob Rob Prest
June 30, 200916 yr just a quick guess do wind speed and direction change rapidly when your problem occurs ? if that is the case try smoothing wind speed and direction changes (I did it with registered FSUIPC....)cheersJulien

Anyway I've made some changes to my AS6.5 settings and have Active radar on another screen, I will see what happens next time. Thanks for your help.Rob Rob Prest

Last one after a 8 hours flight the aircraft crashed. That was the drop wich fill the glass, after that i come back to the 747 (never fail). So Did you find any solution to this problem ?. I know more people with this also. Using AS6.5, and always happening under heavy tubulence.RegardsPedro Bascones
