July 11, 200916 yr Hi guysAfter 'damaging' several of my default aircraft folders (don't know), I went to restore them from backups, only to discover my DVD of zipped files won't open. I used Winrar to create a complete default install of FSX, then 'zipped' it.I think it's just a case of what happens when using unbranded disks:-(Is it possible to 'extract' files from my original disks, like it was in FS9?I wan't to avoid an FSX 'repair', as that tends to also overwrite other mods.Any help appreciated, thanks Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
July 11, 200916 yr You probably already tried this but might try to open the disks on a few other computers. Every once in awhile I can't open a disk on the computer I made it with.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

So if you have the original installed on C drive, you might be able to install it on another drive like D drive and then extract whatever file you need. There is no way to extract files off the DVD and repair is your only option other than a reinstall. If you're worried about overwriting "mods", you can simply save them and copy them over to the repaired FSX.Best regards,Jim Young
