Clouds in FSX

Featured Replies

Hi guysHave been trawling the web for ways of displaying clouds on my FSX in'detailed' without destroying all of my FPS. If I didn't have clouds displayed, my computer actually displays FSX pretty well. Then clouds come and framerates severely reduced.I've seen that one bloke uses 'Hifpsv2' clouds, which i believe are FS9 default clouds, in FSX. Apparently it works well. However, I have no ideas how to install them into FSX - you can't just overwrite current cloud files as FSX/FS9 cloud files are all very different. If you know of any other zip files, or any FSX.CFG tweaks, that could help, I'd be most grateful.CJ

Hi,I just got done reducing my cloud textures sizes in half and it doubled my frame rates with out any visual difference. I you have paint or any other photo editing program its very easy to resize and save it. Hope this helps!

In fact, you can simply overwrite the default FS X cloud textures with FS 9 cloud textures. They are mostly the exact same textures with only a few that are different (larger!).Best regards.Luis
