July 13, 200916 yr Hello,I have used Aircraft Analyzer for a long time and it has the function to identify repaints that are not used in a flight plan. You then have an option to delete the repaint and remove it from the aircraft.cfg. It is a great tool but it can take a long time to do just one repaint because it has to reload everything after each edit.I was wondering if there are any other tools out there that are similar but speed up the process. If I had to guess, I may have 1,000 unused repaints sitting around. Just delete the unwanted texture folders in the aircraft folder, then open the aircraft cfg. file with notepad and delete the text related to the textures you removed. This text usually appears at the top of the notepad page and begins [flightsim.xx]; it is followed by a dozen or more items, including the texture designation, and usually but not always ends with "description= ............" It's important that you next edit the numbers in the [flightsim.xx] line so that they appear in sequence, beginning with zero: 0,1,2,3, etc. Close and save. That's all there is to it. Doesn't seem to require a dedicated tool. You can copy and save the original texture folders and aircraft cfg files so that you can restore them if for some reason you don't get this procedure right the first time.
July 13, 200916 yr Author Thanks. I pretty good at adding and removing things manually but doing it manually would take a very long time considering there are probably over 1,000 repaints that would need to be removed - perhaps may more. The nice thing about Aircraft Analyzer is that it will tell you which repaints are not currently being used in any traffic.bgls. It will automate the process but I wish it would process more than one texture file at a time. A dedicated utility would be very useful.
July 15, 200916 yr Author No problem. It looks like I need to work on my proofreading though.I still have many of the original PAI aircraft on my system from FS2002 and a number of aircraft that modified for self-created GA flight plans from years ago. I also have had Ultimate Traffic on my system since the day it was released and I have replaced many of the flight plans with WOAI.ACA is really the best utility I have found so far. Right now it is telling me that I have about 3,600 textures that are not assigned to a flight plan (includes default and flyable aircraft). I'd really like to get that number down. In total, I have about 12,000 textures and 9,600 are assigned to flight plans.
