ATI Graphics Card - ATI2vg Error Crashing FS9

Featured Replies

I have an ATI 4850 which has run with out problems for 6 months. During the last few days I have had three FS9 crashes - one after running for 1 hour and two after 4-5 hours. Symptoms are:FS9 shuts downA windows message refers to a ATI2vg error, says that windows could not communicate with the graphics card/driver and tells me to save my work and reboot. From the display, windows has obviously reverted to the most basic graphics mode possible without using the ATI driver. When I reboot, the system starts as normal and all graphics indications are good.Different ATI drivers have no affect and I have checked that all fans etc are clean and working correctly. Also, a search of google has only found a couple of non-english references to this error.Very grateful for any suggestions.John R

Try stress-testing the card with ATi Tool artifact tester. If your card produces artifacts in an hour or less then it is faulty.
