Lontime issue w/ ASA

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,I have had this issue of ASA freezing my FSX in consistence basis with every build and BETAS since I bought it in just two days after it was released. I have searched the forum and it looks like every issues similar to mine was solved in a different manner therefore I have decided to post today for help. I have not been able to complete a single flight with ASA (not even 1-HR) without it freezing up FSX.FSX----SP2 w/ ACC (Full Screen)Win Vista 32 SP2Q6700 2.664-Gig MemATI HD 4850 1GB Drv vers 9-5 (same for all previous ver)ASA build 433FSUIPC 4.520 RegBCK GRD programs PFE Ver 2.11, FS realtimeThe above information is to help detect my problem and I also close all programs before FSX with smartclose. I have to confess also that ASX B1169 does the same thing ONLY not as repetitious as ASA and does not last longer as ASA. ASX will freeze FSX in once, twice or never in flights up to 13 hours real time and have to revert to it always to complete my flight when this issue with ASA comes up. ASA can freeze and last as long as ten minutes while ASX freezes for just three minutes. This comparison again is to show the level or the intensity of ASA issues that I'm having. I have not brought this to the forum all this while because I thought the SP1 with its improvement was going to fix whatever performance issues with this in my end and as said earlier, even I'm having the same problems with beta versions. Thanks for your support.Gus

Hi Gus,A few suggestions:Try with the High Priority Processes set both ways and see if one way is better than the other.Set ASA to run on core 2.Now these freezes: after a time FS unfreezes and starts running again? Thanks,

Jim,I have now un-checked " Forced High Priority Processes". I will try that with my next flight and report. I will also set affinity to core 2 and see what happens, and YES after a time FSX will unfreeze and run again. I must add that during these freezing period, the aircraft engine sound can be heard and if I happened to be at desktop, when this happens; any window that I will open and close will leave a "ghost" like image on the now FSX window screen. ThnxGus

Jim,I'm happy to report that just after removing or un-checking the "HPP" on ASA, I have not experience a single freeze on my 3hrs into a 6hr flight. This is something I have never experienced with ASA in all these months. Although I would say the jury is not out yet, but all the same this is working and thank you for that in the mean time. Thnx Gus

Hi,Now run ASA on core 2 AND enable HPP.Thanks,

But don't use the button within ASA to start your sim otherwise the flight simulator will also inherit the core 2 affinity (in Vista at least), use a normal shortcut to start the sim instead.

Cheers, Andy.
