July 29, 200916 yr Hi all..I have just purchased and installed ASX and have a few questions.1. Startup.. is it as simple as just loading a plan in the briefing section, and then loading FSX through ASX, and then the weather follows my route?2. Exacly what is X Graphics and what does it do? SHould it have come with the ASX disk -- if so it didn't install.. how to remedy? Thanks in advance. Probably stupid questions, but I am unsure about the above.Bob
July 29, 200916 yr Yep, it's pretty much just that simple unless you want to use historical data which needs to be D/L'ed as a separate step, or your own wx settings, after ASA has gone through the start process--see your manual. After loading your flight plan all that's let to do is to study the Report, Map and PIREPS pages. The X graphics are an additional purchase, if I remember correctly. Some of us use X graphics, some use something like FEX, some might even use the default cloud (etc) generator in FSX or FS-9. The debate continues as to which visual generator is better--X graphics, FEX, REX...you get the idea. Whichever you use, you won't be disappointed. I might also get X Graphics. I guess from the HiFi Web Site. Do you use it? Any issues? And, also, I see that there is one update available... do you know of any downsides to doing it?Thanks againBob
July 29, 200916 yr If an update is available for ASA, I would go ahead and get it forthwith. I assume (always a risky proposition) that you are talking about SP-1? I tend to get about every other update, some are almost unnoticeable IMHO. SP-1 however is a big deal, install it. Follow the instructions closely for trouble free installation. Updates usually improve things without any issues whatsoever, although your mileage might vary.I don't use X Graphics (sorry JS), I use FEX and really like it. I know others who wouldn't use anything other than X Graphics. You would get it (them?) at the Hifi site. Whichever you get will be much better than default.Hope this helps. July 30, 200916 yr Thanks George for your help here.Bob, ASX should be the latest version and should not need an update. You can run ASX and the Build number is on the main screen. If it is 1169 you are all set. Thanks,

I got it from PC Aviator, and I didn't know about the X Graphics program, until after I bought ASX. I wish that they would advertise the two together. Any chance I could get the other one as I only got it last week. If not, I will probably wait a bit and get it later. However, I did a quick flight last night and really like the ASX. Thanks again. Bob
