No DLL.XML and can't reload any flights

Featured Replies

Hi All,Firstly I have contacted PMDG Support about this and I have had some answers that unfortunately have not solved any issues. So I thought i'd share the problem here to see if anyone can help? The original problem was that I can not load any flights. I.E if I wanted to practise my approach in the MD-11 then I would like to load the flight just before hitting the LOC. When I load a flight the MD-11 does NOT initialise, all panels are blank and my MD-11 falls from the sky... bad times.I have followed advise directly from PMDG about re-installing FSX, re-installing MD-11, replacing DLL.XML etc etc - to be quite honest this whole experience has put me off PMDG products, but I won't go there! The thing that is bugging me is, PMDG states that erasing the DLL.XML file and then re-installing the MD-11 should create another "fresh" DLL file. Well I have my "hidden files" showing and for the life of me I can not get a new DLL file to create.I LOVE THIS PLANE! I think it is so fun to fly but I can't fly it as I have so many problems with the initialisation of the plane.YES - I clicked always trust PMDG YES - I have re-installed FSX many many times.YES - I have re-installed the MD-11 many many times.YES - I have show hidden files and folders enabled.YES - My version of FSX is up to date with SP2YES - My plane loads correctly in a new flight.NO - My plane does NOT load correctly when I want to load a saved flight unless I quit FSX, wait 10 minutes and re-load.Any help welcome. If this doesnt get sorted I am going to give up on PMDG and go jump off a cliff lol Thanks,DaveA frustrated but patient PMDG customer.

Dave, I'm not sure if your problem is "creating" a dll.xml file or loading a saved flight during a session without having to restart FSX?You say you cannot load any flights then you say your plane loads correctly. Maybe the background story is confusing me... please confirm the current problem: Loading a saved flight or fixing a dll.xml file??

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the confusion. The short answer is both.1) There is no DLL.XML file since I deleted the original - I have done an exhaustive search of every file on my HD and I can not find one.2) The first load up works fine. Any MD-11 flight loaded after then does not work unless I quit FSX and wait over 10 minutes before trying again.Dave

Normally if there is a missing dll.xml file then FSX will create a new one when it is launched. If the PMDG modules are not included in the dll.xml then you could not lauch the PMDG simulation. So let us just assume that you have a dll.xml (since FSX won't load PMDG without it, not even the first time). Then the problem becomes loading an MD11 flight without first having to restart FSX? Normally this is always a problem in FSX (due to bugs in the advanced animations) if you try to reload a variant of same engine type. There is no known solution except restarting FSX. I don't know why your system has a 10-min timeout before you can restart FSX... most machines will require a pause of 10-30 sec between relaunching a session. Very interesting. As far as your original goal of saving a flight just before intercepting the localizer for the purpose of ILS practice, I recommend what I do is to fly the local pattern from takeoff to downwind to base and interception for final... I get a lot more practice this way and I only have to worry about saving a flight that is sitting on the ground (with all freqs and loads preset).Perhaps others can jump in to help here, I do not like saving flights during enroute or midair... I prefer the same number of takeoffs and landings :(

Thanks for replying. I guess what your saying is I should put up with it?I'm uninstalling FSX for good i've spent over 2 months putting up with it! - Im going to FS9. Guess I wont be using the MD-11 anymore :(- what a waste of money as FSX cant even support it properly!?! Thanks again,Dave
