My framerate seems low for my PC

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm experiencing a framerate around 10 when I fly the RealAir Duke 60 or Flight1 ATR 72.I tried this afternoon, the sky was clear, and I was surprised by this low FPS. Some times it's drop down to 7 and up to 17.The only addon I use is TileProxy and ENB series HDR plugin. Here are my specs:Quadcore Q9550 (2.83 GHz)4 Gb DDR3 RAMATI 4870 1GoVista 64.FSX acceleration pack.1920x1080My targer framerate is set to 30 FPS. I thought with that config I could expect at least 20 !Are those figures normal with those aircrafts ?

What FPS do you get with the default planes? Some addons are notoriously bad on FPS. I dont have either of those so I can't compare. It also depends on what settings you have FSX set to, as well as the location you are flying from/over.

With the ultra light it's about 50 60.Carenado 182 very good FSP as well. Those two are killing the framerates. But as nobody complained about, I'm just wondering if it's not an issue related to my settings.

Sounds about right. The Duke model is much more advanced than default twin or Carenado Seneca, therefore it will hit your FPS more.Your CPU could be overclocked, and I'd recommend doing that if it's not a store bought PCBe sure to check out this guide for FSX tuning:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041

Thanks. I'll study your link !It's a custom made config. I'll O/C if nothing else helps.Thanks !

10 fps is probably a little lowWhat are your in-game settings?

Hi Craneduitre,I too have the Q9550 (overclocked to 3.6 GHz), but have 4 gb 1066 DDR2 RAM, EVGA Nvidia 9800 GTX superclocked plus video, vista 64 and 1920 x 1200 resolution on a 24 inch monitor. My favorite aircraft is the RealAir Duke and fly it most of the time. When flying the it out of Launceton Tasmania with the ORBX scenery and all settings maxed to the right, I average around 25, with a low of perhaps 15 or so and a high maxed out at 35 because I have that setting on the FPS limiter utility. I get an average of around 10-12 even flying out of the super detailed ORBX Melbourne airport with the Duke. I think the aircraft is terrific on FPS. I might perhaps get better with lesser planes, but if so, I hit the 35 FPS barrier so it doesn't matter. In any case the Duke is butter smooth in all but the nastiest situations. I also use Nick's settings for Nhancer as well, although that won't help you with your ATI hardware. If you do not use FPS limiter, I would recommend you give it a try as many say it has really helped them. In any case, you should be able to overclock to 3.4 or 3.6 without having a heat problem (max 70C). I use AI Suite v1.03.19 for the overclock since I use an ASUS motherboard. Make sure you do it in smaller steps using something like OCCT to run stability and heat tests. It should rock your world! :)I hope this helps,Spirit Flyer

I'll check, but I think everything is quite high (not maxed)

Thanks for your advice. It seems that we have a similar config, except the graphic card.I think I'll start OC my CPU... I have an Asus motherboard too. Thanks !

OK I just OC my CPU to 8.5*400 = 3.4 Ghz.Now I have a question about the timmings. I'm currently running well with 6-6-6-18My memory is Corsair DDR3-1333 running a 400Mhz How low I could reduce them ?
