Another annoying plane-not-showing topic

Featured Replies

What's up, guys?Thank you for taking the time to read this post.Thing is today I installed an AI flightplan for an airline, let's call it XYZ. I downloaded the proper aircraft models and textures and set the "aircraft.cfg" to match the "title=" section with those of the "AircraftXYZ.txt" However, once I got to the FS9, just one out of the two aircrafts used by the airline is being shown. By the way, the one showing is a 732 and the one not showing is a Jetstream 61.I scanned the "FlightPlanXYZ.txt" file with the useful TToolsCompanion utility to check for possible errors but no error came up out of the search. Matter of fact is the plane is being used quite a lot. I have already checked the "AirportXYZ.txt" for all the airports to show up and even crosschecked it with the main "Airport.txt" file (main file for all my traffic). The only thing that makes me wonder is: do all of these airports need to have gates or ramps assigned? Because I noticed some of these airports scheduled under the J61 flightplan's were as small as not having gates, ramps or anything, they barely have a runway where to land at.... by the way, of course these runways are big enough to let the J61 land and takeoff. To discard the problem of a possible texture conflict, I modified the *.air file to make the plane choosable. The aircraft shows perfectly OK and it doesn't have any contact points problem related to its stay on the ground. So, what is it?Thanks a lot! ... sorry for the looong text.. Please , I'm looking forward seeing this plane flying in my FS world! :)

Hi,You need to have parking spots large enough to accommodate the radius of that plane to have it show up when you load up at an airport. If you watch it land, it will disappear on the runway if it doesn't have a large enough parking spot.Does it show up at large airports with many empty large parking spots? Does it show up at all? Can you load it into FS manually? (by editing the AIR file, if needed, to make it visible in the Select Aircraft menu).Hope this helps,

As Tom so correctly stated, there must be available parking space(s) of the proper radius at any airport where the aircraft in question is to land. You can use the Aircraft Editor which is built in to the free AFCAD program by Lee Swordy to find out the radius of any installed aircraft.Good luck!

At the largest airports, with plenty of empty big parking spots it won't show up. Yes, I can load it into FS manually: it is visible on the Select Aircraft list and after giving it a go, it seems to be well designed, I mean, unlike some other AI planes, it doesn't crash into the ground while taxiing, etc.... any ideas what's going on?So, it looks like a problem of the aircraft itself and not of the AFCAD's. Anyway, I downloaded all the AFCADs of the airports where the plane lands and they have spots where the J61 could definitively park based on its radius. It doesn't show at allThank you.

I would suggest reviewing your Traffic file txt entries - sometimes a typo can creep in that is easy to overlook - for example forgetting the quotation marks before or after) around the aircraft (title= line) in the aircraft.txt file.It also might be worth changing the title= line of the no show aircraft by adding a couple of XX's at the end of the title and match that in your aircraft.txt file and then recompiling. That would assure you are using a unique aircraft identifier.Keep us posted.

Hey, Opa,By the way, thanks for your interest.Well, I did as you said, renamed the plane under title's section in aircraft.cfg and matched it afterwards with the Aircraft.txt. Then, compiled again (deleting before compiling the old Traffic file with possible errors). Still no show out there. As for checking for possible flightplan errors, well, I didn't write the flightplans and they're kinda long so I just turned on this little utility called TrafficToolsCompanion who does the work for you. It scanned the flightplans.txt and the aircraft.txt but didn't come out with any warnings or errors. The thing here is, the other plane addressed in the flightplans shows perfectly OK but not the other one. Any suggestions?

Hi,Two other things:1. Check for hanging spaces after the title= line and in the aircraft.txt file.2. FS9 has a limitation that AI planes will not show up if the flight plan has over about 100 legs. If you are close to that, it could be the reason. To check out #2, change the entry in the aircraft.txt file to an AI plane that you see at a given airport already. Then recompile the traffic BGL file and see if *that* aircraft shows up. If it does, then it might be something in the plane (or it's radius value). If not, then the 100 leg limitation might be the problem, or there is some other problem in that flight plan.Hope this helps,

Hey!Well, I certainly have got to thank both you, tgibson, and you, Opa, for helping me out.It finally did show as AI Traffic. It wasn't a Flightplan error or Aircraft error but just one last missing AFCAD file for one small airport.Apparently, FS9 won't show the plane if only one airport listed on the flightplan hasn't got gates, parking slots, etc. What did I do? I re-checked the airport list and downloaded proper afcads for each one of them and voila! There it is.Thank you again, I really appreciate you time and effort,(If I could I would post you a screenshot of this hard-to-catch J41 but I think it is not allowed under this forum, right? ;) )See you,
