Microsoft FFB2 Joystick

Featured Replies

Is there a program out there to ensure that the stick has a centering force when FFB is turned off in FSX, and FS9? Right not it is just a limp noodle, and I do not like how week the centering response is when using FFB. Thanks

Be sure the green power light is on solid. The biggest drawback to those sticks is a weak power connector and if its loose you will suffer from LSS.. Limp Stick Syndrome :(

No. Dirks' software is THE BEST solution for the Microsoft FF2 joystick. Nothing better...and because Microsoft doesn't support it anymore (don't know why....one of the best sticks on the market today), there probably won't be anything better in the future.I'm waiting for Russell Dirks to add the effect of TURBULENCE BUMPS in the stick. He said years ago that he would work on it; so far it hasn't happened, but no matter, the FF2 is wonderful for Flight Simulation.Stan

Yes, there is a much cheaper alternative...There is a registry entry that you can edit, that will disable the force feedback, and enable the centering force only.Every time I loaded FS9 or FSX, I used to have to go into the controller settings, then the calibration screen and "wiggle the stick" in order to wake up the self-centering forces (i don't use any of the "actual" force feedback effects).I'm using Vista 32, so the registry entry might be in a different spot for you, but open regedit and search for "forcefeedback". Mine is as follows:HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3976736728-457630549-3393907038-1000\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_045E&PID_001B\OEMForceFeedbackIn the tree, right click on "OEMForceFeedback", and select "Permissions..." from the menu. In the lower box, ensure that Full Control and Read are set to "Deny".This will disable the Force Feedback, but enable the self-centering full-time. No more having to go into the FS calibration menus to wake up the handle.I don't use any other programs that use FF effects, but I assume that this registry tweak will disable FF in all games. No loss for me, but that might not be what you want.Regards,Nick

Thanks but I use other games that reqire FFB so i do not think that that will work for me.

Then FSForce 2 IS your only option. It is flight sim-specific.
