MD-11 Aircraft systems flight symbology

Featured Replies

I was looking through the MD-11 Aircraft systems flight symbology for the ND display and cannot find what the symbol I/P with a circle means when descending into an airport with an IFR fllight plan. Can anyone tell me what this symbol on the flight path means?jack

Intercept PointIt is the point on your flight path where you are due to intercept PROF.

Every cigarette takes 17 minutes off your life, every slice of bacon takes 9 minutes off your life. If you smoke and eat bacon fast enough, you can go back in time.

Thanks for the reply. If I have 'Prof' mode already activated, does this mean the intercept of the 1st FMC assigned speed & altitude constraint or does it have another meaning that I'm not familiar with? I'm not exactly sure as to why this info is necessary given the FMC waypoint information! In other words, what useful purpose does it serve the PF or the PNF?Regards, jack
