As I stated in an earlier thread, this became a contested file. Our policy is to remove contested files immediately and until the two parties (or more) resolve the issues that make it contested, it remains off the AVSIM library.

Hi,Ok, so it was a "consested" file, does this mean some of it was pirated, or has it "stepped" on some peoples toes.Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree, or maybe I should mind my own business, but I have been using it almost exclusivly since I downloaded it and it would be a sham to have it tainted in some way.Dan.

Let's not speculate and let's do give the various parties time to work it out or explain it themselves.

Haha, I downloaded it already! Lucky me, lucky me. Now everyone can squabble while I have fun flying.

But it's still available for download from www.fsnordic.netDavid

This is truely unfortunate. Guess it will be removed from my hard drive until this issue is resolved. Please keep us posted, Tom. It's a great little airplane.

I also got it from www.fsnordic.net the first day it came out and yeah, it is a really great little plane. Is it removed because it is made with too much high quality? That's what I understand.

Why remove it from your hard-drive? Granted, If I had paid for it and found it was "pirated" in some form then I would of felt robbed and would of certainly asked for a refund upon deletion, but a free download, downloaded in complete ignorance of any issues, then I would not feel compelled to delete it, I probably wouldn't distribute it to any friends, but if it was enjoyable to fly then I would continue to use it.Obviously everyone else has different principals when it comes to things like this, so this isn't knocking you, just a query as to why you felt strongly enough about any unknown issues to delete it.A tad embarrassing for AVSIM though since they ran its release as a frontpage headline. :)

Similarities to copywrited air.files which is being contested. And that is where it stands at the moment.L.Adamson

Hi,Well that was my fear, I had thought that the similarities to the certain payware package would not have gone down to well (similarities in flight dynamics anyway), I hope it all gets resolved in a nice clean manner, and the package is avaliable once agian, I think that it is a package that everybody should have.Dan

I can hardly believe that Mikko would steal someone else's work...He's been on the receiving end too often for that.

>I can hardly believe that Mikko would steal someone else's>work...>>He's been on the receiving end too often for that.Mikko programs the graphics, which doesn't involve the disputed files. The aircraft was put together as a team effort.L.Adamson

So, there's only one person that can program spins???? and accurate flight dynamics????? Judging by the names on that airplane, I seriously doubt there was any copying going on anywhere.

Judging by the names on that>airplane, I seriously doubt there was any copying going on>anywhere.I would assume that many can program accurate flight dynamics and spins -- given the time. But the files in question, are near duplicates. Not all, but some. And now it's a matter of who did what first, and what was freely available before that. L.Adamson

So I guess this explains why some people say it feels like the sf 260

>Yes, and given that it is a disputed file, that's too bad. What I'm reading here, hopefully you Tom are not trying to suggest that we are somehow supporting "pirated" software or something like that, what is not the case here. We have seen all the facts in relation to this issue and currently we see no reason to remove this particular package from our files section.Sami PuroFS Nordichttp://www.fsnordic.net/

So the file was removed because of similarities in the air file to the Real air simulations SIAI-Marchetti? Ok both files are capable of spinning, but spinning happens very differently in both aircraft, and the flight dynamics are very much different anyway. In my opinion the Vinka and the SF-260 have very little in similar when it comes to the flight dynamics.I am not an expert in making flight dynamics, but if they are very much the same in code, it doesn't immediately mean it has been copied.I was partially in the Vinka project myself, and i have been daily writing in the same forum as Kari (the creator of the flight dynamics) for something like 2 years, and i could barely think he would endanger the Vinka project by copying anything copyrighted, especially with his reputation as an aircraft designer, and the fact being there are other people in the project also.Somehow, to me this seems like Real Air Simulations not wanting to lose customers on a competing model. I am not accusing anyone, and i am not even sure it is the SIAI marchetti we are talking about. That's just what it seems like to me.

Forbidden fruit is the tastiest. This thread peaked my curiousity so off to FsNordic I went.:)Man what a spiffy piece of freeware this is.I hope they get it sorted out quick. This package deserves it.:)Oh by the way Jentwing, Lago could take some serious lessons in value from this group.

I did exactly the same thing. Read this this morning and off to FSNordic I went with downloading in mind. She's on my harddrive now.

I must admit I downloaded the file from FsNordic just now. The news that the problem lies with the sf 260 airfile make me feel a little less quilty as I bought that one already. Will have a look at the airfiles but as a non specialist there is probably little to see.I hope this gets sorted out and I give no support to stealing otherman's work (certainly not Rob Youngs I'm a big fan of his airfiles ever since the v88's in Fly!) but I do wonder. If I was a fresh still learning all the tricks .air file designer I would look at all the work the pro's did to see how it is done. Now my end product would not be a 1 to 1 copy but it will stil look somewhat the same. Lets face it if your programming C class makes a 'Hello World' program it wil end up looking pretty much the same even if you don't peek at your neigbours work.

Not at all Sami. But it is and has been disputed most of today, as you know. Anyway, your post has been overcome by events, as I see you posted below.
