The best Stocjhol Arlanda out there

Featured Replies

Hey guys,Now that FS2004 is slowly settling in on my new Windows installation, I'm deciding what sceneries to buy and what not. Earlier I ahd already asked about the best heathrow scenbery, and I ended up choosing the UK2000 incarnation. Now, I want to look at another airport: Stockholm Arlanda. You ever know the feeling of nostalgia? As it happens there are a couple of sceneries and aircraft that I have a weak spot for, because in the early days of my MSFS experience, I used to visit these places. One of these places is Stockholm Arlanda with a DHC6. This is for me the main reason to buy a good Arlanda airport. Now, there are multiple options:Aerosoft's Mega airport Stockholm Arlanda: Look awesome, but it's also 25 euros and seems like it will hit my FPS quite hard, given the detail.Swedflight's Arlanda v2: this looks a lot simpler, not the maount of detail we see at Aerosoft. Still, it looks okay, and I think it should be very good for the performance of FS2004.Aerosoft's Scandinavian airports vol 2: Simpler than the other Aerosoft scenery, but more detailed than the Swedflight offering, it looks nice without hitting my FPS hard. Plus, you get approx. 7 extra airports to play with.If there are any more (payware please, unless the freeware is very good), I'd gladly hear about them. For now: which do you think is best?

Aerosoft's Mega Airport Stockholm for sure. FPS is very good, looks excellent and above all; its AES compatible (the Swedflight and old Aerosoft ones aren't).Yes it's 25 euro's but it's money well spend if you plan to fly there...Regards,Frank

I agree with above. I would add, that the problem with your request is that presumably there won't be many people who have all ,so direct comparisons are difficult. But to reiterate what Frank says, despite its complexity Aerosoft's Mega Airport Stockholm is good on FPs. Many more recent airports are better on FPs than you might expect because secnery developers have honed their skills and have become better at optimising their sceneries.

After looking at screenshots it was apparent Aerosoft's Arlanda probably was the best, the most detailed. I think I'll go with that one then. Swedflight's Arlanda looks like a FS2002 thing and I'm not even sure it's still being actively developed at all.

You are in luck however - I used the Sweflight Arlanda for a couple of years before the Aerosoft one was released so can tell you some direct comparisons:- FPS - about equal, perhaps even better with the Aerosoft product- Detail - Aerosoft wins for sure, and it is more up-to-date - Value - The Aerosoft scenery is expensive. Sweflight gives you three airports in one package (or is it now all seven in one) which are also quite nice - I'm still using their ESGG scenery...- Bugs - Somehow all the autogen trees are missing around the Sweflight scenery (even after removing the photoscenery / exclude parts). The Aerosoft scenery initially had some issues but there was a service pack released which delt with them. Finally, the Aerosoft airport wins for me because it is AES complient and is also still developed so will probably be updated as things change IRL...Cheers,Geoff
