Sound of J41 engines at FSX startup

Featured Replies

Actually, as soon as I hit the J41 thumbnail in free flight menu (I have C172 as default--cold/dark) the sound of J41 engines plays...then stops...then when I "spawn" in on the ramp...it starts out cold/dark then automatically, I hear engines spin up (but no engines are turning in the external view) for a second, then it stops and I'm in a semi-cold dark J41 setup...batteries are on (even though they are off in default). Please confirm--there is no "startup .wav" when J41 thumbnail is selected? How do I ensure cold/dark with the J41?ThanksRich Perry

Rich,I believe that sound you hear is an artifact of the specific coding that was done to get the engines right. The best way to ensure a cold and dark cockpit is to shut the JS41 down properly and save that as a situation. When you next start up FSX, you can begin with your default flight (works well with either the default Cessna or the ultralight), and once that's stable, load the saved flight with the JS41 in C&D configuration.

YodaThanks...I have yet to pull chocks and taxi...I've gone through AOM + checklist + sticky on shutting down and starting...out of frustration I simply hit CTRL + E...which starts the left engine only...so I'm thinking I can do a crossbleed start to the #2 engine...so I attempt to remove start lock on #1...with F2 depressed and slowly pulling the throttle back I hit the reverse detent...then attempt to add power...and the number 1 burns up on me...I never hear the start lock remove call...so I'm stuck after 6hrs.Since I've got a single throttle (F16 style) when I move the throttle, both throttles in the J41 move...down to FLT IDLE...however, to get below FLT IDLE, I've got to click on them individually and drag slowly to GND IDLE, then hit F2 and continue to drag to REV...but I can only pull back on one throttle at a time...so I'm assuming both throttles have to hit the reverse detent at some point in order for start locks to be removed...We've all been there but this is incredibly frustrating. There must be folks out there with a CH PRo throttle (F16 style). There's got to be a work around.Rich
