If the title of the page is really ACTIVE FPL 1/1, then the flight plan is already active, and there won't be a SELECT? prompt. Are you editing an existing saved company route?Regards,Nick

"Activation" on the GNS-XL actually consists of going to the NAV page and then pressing Enter twice to confirm the current FROM and TO waypoint fields.

Nick, RyanThanks for the helpWhen I start the FMS from C&D (all electrical power turned off so FMS memory should be cleared) the Initialization Page appears where I press Enter 3 times, then from the Flight Plan List I press the FPL button on the top row but it already says ACTIVE FPL 1/1 even though I haven't entered anything yet. I'm sure in the Tutorial I had to press Select to activate the plan or as Ryan says go to the NAV page ?Glen

Glen,When you first initialize the FMS, after you press ENTER three times to confirm your present position, the FMS should come up with the FLIGHT PLAN LIST 1/1 page, if you have any saved flight plans. The JS4100 comes with several. Initially, these will be filtered for your current location, so there may only be one or two. If you click on the FPL button, you'll get the ACTIVE FPL 1/1 page, and the highlighted field will show "*****". You can then enter your flight plan manually. To use a stored flight plan, once you've hit ENTER three times at initialization and gotten to the FLIGHT PLAN LIST 1/1 page, use the right LSKs to highlight the number of the plan you want. The second LSK down will allow you to choose between plans 1 and 2, the third LSK down between 3 and 4, and so on. Once you've highlighted the number of the desired plan, press ENTER.This takes you to the FLIGHT PLAN XX 1/X page (where XX = the plan number and X equals the number of pages in the plan). Here you can add your desired DP (SID) and STAR, or simply press the bottom right LSK to highlight SELECT and then press ENTER to activate the plan. Now, you should be in the ACTIVE FPL 1/X page...confirmation that you've activated the plan. You now need to activate the first leg by pressing the NAV key, observing that the top right field is highlighted, and pressing ENTER twice. This activates the first leg of your plan. If you go back and enter a different DP (SID), you'll have to activate the first leg again by confirming that the modified plan is the active plan (viewing the ACTIVE FPL 1/X page), then selecting NAV, highlighting the top field by clicking on the top left LSK, and clicking ENTER twice.
