September 14, 200916 yr There seems to be several guys who have the same problem then i had, after installation and first fsx start no activation window appeared. After several hours and4 times full fsx installation, i was able to locate and fix the problem.1. Some parts of the VC++2008 (Microsoft.VC90.CRT) redistributable were not properly installed. I think thats not an fsx but an pmdg or license service issue.-To figure out, if everything is ok with this, open eventlogviewer->System events.-Start FSX-Delete (and backup) all existing events in the system eventlog (not necessary, but makes things easier to find)-Select the BAE JS41 from free flight and wait until is loaded.-have a look at eventlog-viewer. Ther mustn't be any errors regarding VC90.CRT.- If you have errors with that description, have a look here: http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/details...;displaylang=enAfter installing this fix, there should be no errors left concerning VC90....2. SIMCONNECT isn't properly installed. To find out, if there is a problem with simconnect, just follow the instructions found at 1.There mustn't be any error regarding SIMCONNECT assemblys. There even mustn't be any errors regarding FSX!!If you have errors from SIMCONNECT, than thats quite a big one because i haven't found any method to fix that on an installed system. (you have to install these assemblys to gac with an .NET util, but therefore you need the DLLs)-The only way to do, is to unistall fsx. -Search for any rubbish left by the installer, and especially check C:\Windows\winsxs\... There can be 1-3(RTM,SP1,SP2) empty Folders related to SIMCONNECT. Delete them all-Install fsx from scratch, then the SPs.- Have a look at the winsxs folders. There must be a simconnect.dll in each of the simconnect folders.- Install JS41Everything should work now!Hope that someone problem is solved by that, because *she* is so wonderfull to fly!!Joachim
September 14, 200916 yr I think this is an excellent tip. There are many references in google to the VC90.CRT errors, one issue that I noticed discussed mult-language support modules for Visual Studio causing problems. It gets too complicated for me to understand. Simple "try this" steps are much appreciated. Dan Downs KCRP
September 16, 200916 yr Hi All.Thanks for this it sure got me up and running,i downloaded from MS download site the vcredist_x86 and installed them, then i configured my zonealarm to allow FLEXnet to communicate with the net, then reinstalled the js41.Fired up FSX sellected the js41,the activation panel came up no problem. Now all i have to do is configure FSX so the aircraft runs more smoothly, and learn how the systems work fully.Regards Alan.
