September 14, 200916 yr Stupid question (Probably)....The tutorial says you should depress the go around button on the throttle before take off, it then goes on to talk about manually advancing the throttles to achieve 100% torque during the take off roll. So my question is, what does go around actually achieve? Normally go around would be associated with achieving take off power with the auto throttle engaged, but on this aircraft there is no auto throttle..... September 14, 200916 yr It makes the flight director point up, in the general direction you want during takeoff/go-around :(
September 14, 200916 yr Author It makes the flight director point up, in the general direction you want during takeoff/go-around :(and I though you needed to fly down on take off... :( It doesn't do much then. "Military Intelligence is a contradiction in terms" Paul Yates
September 14, 200916 yr I took of without pressing it once but it didn't change anything ;) Cheers, Thomas
September 14, 200916 yr Pressing Go Around is a necessary step in order to ensure proper FD operation after takeoff. It sets the vertical and lateral modes to GA, which ensures that the FD commands wings level and 8 degrees pitch. If ATC gave you heading to fly, and you're in HDG mode instead, if you have an engine failure on takeoff in IMC, you're likely to follow the FD and roll into a turn at low altitude. Not good. Not to mention turns aren't authorized below 400 feet anyway. Nick
September 14, 200916 yr Ok, won't forget it anymore ;)I have a question in the checklist it says APR before takeoff to ON...But I didn't see an APR switch. If someone has the solution.. Cheers, Thomas
September 14, 200916 yr Ok, won't forget it anymore ;)I have a question in the checklist it says APR before takeoff to ON...But I didn't see an APR switch. If someone has the solution..APR is Approach. It's next to all the other Autopilot functions like HDG, NAV, etc.Or perhaps its the Automatic Power Reserve (APR). That switch is just above the engine indications Erik L.

September 14, 200916 yr I think it's the Automatic Power Reserve, but I couldn't find the switch ;) Cheers, Thomas
September 14, 200916 yr Ok, won't forget it anymore ;)I have a question in the checklist it says APR before takeoff to ON...But I didn't see an APR switch. If someone has the solution..Thomas,The switch is directly above the engine instruments and in between the two engine oil pressure/oil temp/fuel pressure gauges.EDIT: I'm really slow today.
September 14, 200916 yr Ok thanks, I'm going to do the shuttle between Geneva and Zurich tonite on IVAO ;) Cheers, Thomas
September 15, 200916 yr Author APR won't actually do anything unless you have an engine failure, so It's a safety measure. "Military Intelligence is a contradiction in terms" Paul Yates
