September 16, 200916 yr HiI'm interested in buying Majestic Dash Q300 Pilot Edition.I'm confused, because I think I read somewhere that VNAV is not simulated?!Can somebody confirm that.If this is the case, this addon is to expensive and basic FMS function is not simulated.ThanksEdin
September 16, 200916 yr I'm fairly certain that the real Dash-8 doesn't have a VNAV function. Joe Sherrill
September 16, 200916 yr Author I'm fairly certain that the real Dash-8 doesn't have a VNAV function.HiI'm 100% sure that Dash 8 Q400 have that ability.I didn't see Q300, but as I see in manual of Majestic dash Q300, VNAV button exist on MCDU, but I read somewhere that it is not simulated .I'm talking about VNAV key on MCDU which allows to the crew to define desired vertical flight profile along the route. I know that AP on Q300 is not like on B737 or A320 and I know that it does not use VNAV function on Q300 only V/S, IAS and pitch mode.Same as like ATR72. I have F1 ATR72 which does not have VNAV ability but through MCDU and Vertical navigation page, you can plan when to start descent etc.If this feature is not simulated then what is the reason for such a high price? Thanks anywayEdin
September 16, 200916 yr edin:do not believe the the dash 8 100/200/300 are VNAV equiped. no button for that option on the glareshield. the FMS will give advisory information.the history of the Majestic (fanda) dash 8 is HIGH fidelity of system upon sub-system simulation ... such as levelD and PMDG.the majestic is also 'certified' for pilot training.AND, if you don't like the price then don't install on your system.-- D. I'm asking about, as you say advisory information, because VNAV button exist on MCDU.And I know that VNAV does not exist on glareshield, obviously because it is not VNAV equipped.Whatever, I posted on Majestic forum.ThanksEdin
September 16, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hello VNAV is an option for the real-world Dash 8 Q300. An option which only a few operators have purchased, as it does not really help to operate such a slow aircraft. That is the reason we did not simulate it.The price is set high to make people read the product information (reviews) more carefully first , and judge better if our Dash 8 Q300 is what they need. This product is not really a toy for jumping into the cockpit, pressing Ctrl-E and going to the external view to see the aircraft takes off. It is a serious procedural simulator which requires a lot of knowledge to operate, therefor if it were available for a lower price, a lot of people who would not really know what to do with this product would purchase it and get upset.Hope this explains it.regards,Oleksiy Frolovwww.majesticsoftware.com

I'm not sure if this function should be active on real Q300 because I didn't see real a/c, but this is the case with ATR42/72. It has Vertical Navigation information on MCDU and it is not VNAV equipped. Unfortunately I'm working on Q400 so I cannot check this, and I'm new on that a/c, because it is brand new in our fleet. September 17, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hello Edin Yeah, seen that I don't know what kind of FMC ATR uses, but in Universal 1C which is in the Dash8 there is no such option. I know however, that VNAV costs a fortune to the airlines, that's why there aren't many installations of it. There is a performance page which shows you weights, range and stuff, but no vertical navigation information.regards,Oleksiy Frolovwww.majesticsoftware.com Hi Oleksiy or Boss :( Again, I'm talking about VNAV key on MCDU which allows to the crew to define desired vertical flight profile along the route.
