Good socket LGA775 motherboard?

Featured Replies

I currently have a GA-X38T-GA6 motherboard (some 2 years old roughly) , and would like to replace it with something newer that would run a 45nm CPU (I currently have a Q6600 installed). I know that this socket is nowhere near the "state of the art" at the moment, but for now I would like to be able to retain my existing DDR3 memory and start off with the Q6600 and go for a better CPU from there. Any suggestions? I do like Gigabyte but am not limited to that manufacturer, and also I would like something with built-in wireless (although I'm sure that everything has that now). Thanks, Bruce.

Gigabyte makes fantastic motherboards. My brand of choice at the moment. If you don't need multi-GPU support then you could pick up a decent P45 board from Gigabyte's UD line. I just recently purchased their P45-UD3L for only $99 and o/c'd my Q9550 to 4GHz with ease. Great board. Excellent voltage regulation makes overclocking easy. As for built-in wireless, this still tends to be a frilly feature only found on select boards. Asus tends to include wireless on their desktop boards more than any other motherboard maker I know of.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. What range of 45nm CPU's does this board work with? To save another post here maybe you can answer a question regarding my current GA-X38T-DQ6 board. I have been running a mild OC (333) for some weeks now but noticed last night after a CTD that the board would always reset itself to Auto if I re-booted, therefore not enabling even my mild OC to work. I came home from work and thought that I would start from the ground up- I enabled the Host Control in BIOS and set it to 266 (the same as it runs on auto), and also set the PCI-e bus from Auto to 100MHz. This should be the same settings as auto gives, but I still get the system resetting these 2 variables to Auto on reboot- with no OC at all. Any ideas of what is happening here?Thanks- Bruce.

1) Possibly a dead CMOS battery.2) Do you have Ntune installed? (JUNK)3) Are you using "auto" voltages or the correct voltages as per your hardware?
