September 26, 200916 yr Two questions:1. When selecting a runway for approach, do you have to pick a STAR? Is there anyway to bypass that?2. When entering a FP manually, I sometimes have trouble entering the airways. This is the screen I get:What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
September 26, 200916 yr 1. You don't have to select a STAR to select an approach, they are two different options on the FPL page. You don't need to select a STAR, approach or runway to fly, all it wants is a destination.2. It is possible it doesn't recognize a fix you entered? To enter an airway you need to have the entry fix for the airway in the flight plan string, and that fix has to be on the airway as it is defined in the navdata file wpNavRTE.fix. I assume you have read the manual on airways, e.g., using #JXX format. Dan Downs KCRP
September 27, 200916 yr Author Roger that, Dan. I will give it a try next time I take the bird for a flight.I have tried it with several different fixes and still doesn't recognize it. I haven't looked in the manual for that though :( I will take a look at it and report back if any questions remain.Thank you,
September 27, 200916 yr Make sure you hit the # before a vector or jet route entry. I couldnt figure out what i was doing wrong and it turned out i was hitting the * instead and Im here to tell you that wont work but as soon as I put the # in to worked great. Hope this helps. And like Dan said you dont have to pick a sid/star. Just remember that when you pick your departure you then enter the rest of the flight plan and then pick your approach. Hope this helps you a little bit.
September 28, 200916 yr For one flight I had to specify a departure runway otherwise it wouldn't give me the option to save the FP.
